Names on my mind lately… Which do you prefer?
Bonus: I’d also love to hear any impressions you have of the names, your favorite nicknames, and which is your overall favorite!
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] ?
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] or [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] ?
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] or [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] ?
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] or [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] ?
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] or [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] or [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] ?
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] or [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] ?
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]: One of my favourite names, although only as [name_m]George[/name_m]-ee-ah-nuh. Very elegant and beautiful, but unusual and accessible, with literary connections. Definitely my overall favourite!
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]: Another brilliant vintage gem!
[name_f]Thomasina[/name_f]: I was between this and [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]. They’re both quite dramatic (which is good) but [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] just got ahead, because I slightly prefer the sound, especially the -sina vs. -mina ending.
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]: Im not usually a huge fan, but it’s definitely got lots of energy and feels like a very bright, cheerful name. I could warm to it.
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] pronounced [name_f]JEN[/name_f]-uh-veev, nn. [name_f]Eve[/name_f], maaayyyybe [name_f]Neve[/name_f].
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] nn. ? [name_f]Cora[/name_f]'s kind of sweet but I’m not in love with it, I don’t really like [name_f]Lia[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]/[name_f]Delie[/name_f]/[name_f]Coco[/name_f], not sure about [name_u]Corrie[/name_u] . . .
[name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] - so sweet and vintage and lush and I-don’t-care-what-you-think-of-me-but-in-a-nice-way! Sort of sassy without the hard edge. nn. [name_f]Tess[/name_f]/[name_f]Tessa[/name_f].
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] - soft and gentle and lyrical. I also love [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecile[/name_f]. Again, not sure about the nickname - [name_f]Cece[/name_f] doesn’t hit the spot for me. Probably just [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]. Downside is the meaning, it puts me off considering it for a first name.
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - tough time deciding between this and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], but [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]'s more my usual style. Nicknames are tricky - [name_f]Tory[/name_f] and [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] don’t appeal, [name_f]Ria[/name_f]'s pretty but doesn’t have much character [name_f]IMO[/name_f], at least as a nickname. [name_f]Viva[/name_f], perhaps? I seem to recall hearing a good nickname for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] a while ago but can’t remember what it actually was!
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] - although I much prefer [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], adore [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] - love
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] - although I much prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], adore [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] - adore
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
