Discovered it recently, as I was recommended it on here as a similar name to [name_f]Xenia[/name_f]. Not sure what I think of it yet but it’s been on my mind for a few days! What do you guys think?
Is it pronounced quill-a, keel-a or kee-ya?
I think it’s super cool!
In [name_u]French[/name_u] and Spanish quilla is the word for ninepins and for keel. I don’t know why keelhauling in particular comes to my mind, maybe because I imagine the name [name_f]Quilla[/name_f] would be pronounced kee-ya, and that’s where the thread begins.
For that same sound and look, maybe I would go down the [name_u]Aquila[/name_u] or [name_f]Akeela[/name_f] direction.
What I like about it is that it looks interesting, not only because its a rare Q name, but because it would make more than one person wonder about the history and origin behind a name like this.
Xenia is just as intriguing and I can actually see it on a a girl or a woman.
Thank you so much guys, and oh! @jonquils, I think I like Queniva even more! SO gorgeous!
Such an interesting name! I think I will add to my list. I really like the pronunciation kee-yah.
Quilla’s been on my list for ages! I think it’s lovely.
I love [name_f]Quilla[/name_f]! I pronounce it like quill + a and it never occurred to me to pronounce it any differently.
Pronounced [name_u]Quill[/name_u]-ah I’m not a big fan. But I love it pronounced Kee-la or Kee-yah! It’s a really cool name.
