Would [name]Quinlan[/name] be absolutely horrible on a girl? I love [name]Quinn[/name], but I would like something longer. Are there any other names that the NN [name]Quinn[/name] could come from?
I like [name]Quinn[/name] a lot too. I think it works great for either gender. [name]Quinlan[/name] since pretty masculine to me though. Maybe if you spelled it [name]Quinlyn[/name] it would be better but that makes it a little rhymey. What about [name]Quintana[/name], [name]Quintessa[/name], [name]Quintessence[/name], [name]Quintia[/name] or [name]Quintina[/name] to be a more feminine replacement.
I don’t like it on a girl. It sounds too masculine to me. I like the idea of [name]Quintia[/name] or [name]Quintana[/name].
[name]Quinn[/name] in itself is masculine although I have accepted that it is now, officially, unisex. However, [name]Quinlan[/name] is die-hard masculine, so I would go with something more gender-appropriate like [name]Quintina[/name], or even something like [name]Queenie[/name], and use [name]Quinn[/name] as a nickname.
I absolutely love [name]Quinlan[/name] - but def prefer the fem spelling of [name]Quinlyn[/name]. The nn [name]Quinn[/name] is great from baby to adult!
There’s no such thing as a “feminine” spelling for this name in my opinion. It’s either [name]Quinlan[/name] or nothing. Adding a random “y” ruins the charm of the name. The whole point of choosing a Celtic name is the Irishness of it so by changing the spelling that quality is lost. I prefer [name]Quinlan[/name] for a boy myself because I find it very masculine in sound.
