Quinn? Too Masculine? Too Glee related?

I recently started liking [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] for a girl I know a 12 year old girl with the middle name of [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] so its not new to me but I have also recently started watching Glee (I watched the first season in less then a week) and have started to like it. Before glee I found [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] quite harsh. My main issue with [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is the girl I know with the name (Her name is [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]) hates it and is so glad her dad convinced her mum to put it in the middle and both my mum and sister hate it too (they are the main people I talk to names about) though I think my sisters biased its her best friend with the name.

Is [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] too masculine or too associated to Glee for use?

Btw [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] isn’t the only glee inspired name I’ve started to like I also like [name_f]Naya[/name_f].

I used to watched Glee too, I stopped at mid season 4. So to answer your questions:

  1. For me, [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is not masculine at all. I know many people prefer it on boys, but I always prefer it on girls (Hey, it sounds like queen :p).
  2. Only for gleeks. Otherwise, no one will think about [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] Q. Fabray.

It’s a boy’s name to me. I’ve never watched Glee, so I don’t associate it with that.

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is one of the few names that I think of as truly unisex. That said, I don’t really care for it, and it does have a strong association with Glee these days. I’d rather see [name_f]Naya[/name_f], as you mentioned.

Is [name_f]Naya[/name_f] better then [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]? I thought that would be worse due to [name_f]Naya[/name_f] Rivera and I do like many Big [name_m]Sean[/name_m] songs (their engaged) so it seems even more fangirl to me. Plus I’m not even sure if [name_f]Naya[/name_f] is a real name

It reminds me of [name_f]Daria[/name_f] and Glee but to me that’s not a bad thing

[name_f]Michaela[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] reminds me of Dr. [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] Medicine Woman. That’s not a bad thing, but that was my first thought with the young lady’s name.

I tend to like super frilly names, so [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is nms. BUT I do see the appeal. I think it’s cute and has a lot of personality.

The Glee association will wear off, so I wouldn’t let that stop you. The only thing I would “worry” about is the name becoming more popular since the show has started. But it’s been around for several seasons, and I haven’t heard of any baby girl or boy Quinns in our area.

Anyway, I give [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] a thumbs up

@Casilayne I don’t think we have (had?) that show in Australia I’ve never heard of it before and I don’t think she’s ever had that issue before

Well, [name_m]Quentin[/name_m] is our current (female) [name_m]Governor[/name_m] [name_m]General[/name_m], so I think Australians would readily accept both [name_m]Quentin[/name_m] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] as female names. Could even be [name_m]Quentin[/name_m], nn [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] …

I actually really like true unisex names, of which [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is definitely one. I don’t think of Glee, stopped watching after the first season…

I might be in the minority but I prefer [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] on a girl.

I like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. I used to like it for a girl, but I consider it a boy name. Especially since my nephew Q was born. The Glee association isn’t very big. Yes I’ve thought of it, but she’s not a main character anymore and the show is ending.

I love [name_f]Naya[/name_f]. I’m not sure of the legitimacy of it though. I have loved it since I met a little girl with the name. Her name was short for Nayarit. Another name it can be short for is [name_f]Nayeli[/name_f].

I haven’t read the other replies, but I cannot imagine it on a girl. Sorry.
