I don’t find much offensive, but this is an exception. [name_m]How[/name_m] is this NOT about her lesbianism? [name_m]How[/name_m] about you just call her [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] since that is her name regardless of her orientation? If you were just looking for names that would be a good male form of [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], then you prefaced this terribly.

I have never personally referred to her by any of those masculine names - and I respect her sexual orientation 100% (nor would I expect any of us Berries to use those names to refer to her). I’m just the messenger - posting the names I’ve seen/heard some other people refer to her as (and like I said to get your opinions on the names themselves - not which one you think would best suit Rachel Maddow or anything like that).

ETA: A good comparison would be if I were to post some names from a roster or other group of people. Even if it’s a group with non-PC overtones, it wouldn’t be asking what you think about the members’ beliefs or their mission, but rather a WDYT of the names that I saw/heard.

I apologize if I rubbed anyone the wrong way. Also notice that I never posted her last name together in conjunction with those names (which should symbolize that I don’t refer to her that way).

This is pretty badly framed. Why not just ask what name makes the most sense as a male form of [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], if you truly wanted the conversation to be about the names?

OK, since multiple people have taken offense to how I framed the discussion (although I used the Rachel Maddow story only as how I brainstormed the idea for the topic and not that I intended to perceive her as a male or with one of those names), I’ll close this thread. If you disagree and think the conversation is doable, you can PM me and I’ll consider either open this back up or reframe the discussion in another thread.
