[name]Rachel[/name] is a strange name to pin down because oddly it can be considered both classic and dated. It’s a biblical name so it’s classic and timeless. And yet, because it emerged as a popular choice from the 1970’s to the 1990’s (peaking at No# 9 in 1996), many people find it “dated” possibly because these Rachels are now having children of their own so they wouldn’t use it for their own daughters. However, after all of the years of usage, it still sounds incredibly comtemporary. It’s a safe, risk-free choice because it’s now dropped out of the top 100.
[name]Rachel[/name] is a classic name in my community and will always remain so. Whether it remains classic outside the Jewish community – it has very long Biblical roots.
It’s one of my husband’s favorites, so it’s on the short list if we ever have a little girl At first, I wasn’t a huge fan, but it’s grown on me and now I love it too. What I like is that it’s very classic and versatile- it wouldn’t seem out of place if our little [name]Rachel[/name] grew up to be a model or a race car driver or a chef or an actress.
