Rafael

Rafa or Rafael

[name_m]Rafael[/name_m] by a lot. [name_m]Just[/name_m] don’t like the sound of [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m].

[name_m]Rafael[/name_m]! I could get behind [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] as a middle name, but I just feel like someone is going to call them “Farty” if it’s a first name.

I think I prefer [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] as a nickname, but not as strongly as I prefer [name_m]Rafael[/name_m] over [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m].

[name_m]Rafael[/name_m] is much more sturdy and romantic IMO. [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] for sure.

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]

Both are lovely but [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is just charming and joyous. I like [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] as a nickname.

I really like both, but I have to go for [name_m]Rafael[/name_m], I like how it feels more classic! For nicknames, I’m a big fan of [name_u]Rafa[/name_u], it just has this really cool vibe to it. And to be honest, [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] has always reminded me of the word r*pe - I’m clearly not in the majority for making the connection, since a lot of people really like [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] as a name, but I thought I’d mention it.

Rafael would be my pick - but you can’t go wrong with either!

I love Rafa as a name and a nickname - he feels so cool and tropical and rugged in a good way. Since it’s just a nickname, you can call him both if you’re really torn!

Summary

Ugh yes I’ve always thought this, thank you for saying it!! I know many people love Rafe, but I don’t understand how nobody makes this connection OR ignores the connection.

[name_m]Rafael[/name_m] for me, I’m just not big on the sounds of [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]. As for nicknames, I actually don’t like either, I prefer [name_m]Raffy[/name_m] - but between the 2, I think I like [name_u]Rafa[/name_u] more. It’s sweet and charming, even a little romantic sounding.

I like both, they have very different styles/feelings to me.

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] feels very cottagecore, jovial, [name_u]Irish[/name_u] countryside type of name.

[name_m]Rafael[/name_m] is much more latin feeling, more classic, romantic.

Personally [name_u]Ive[/name_u] always had a soft spot for [name_m]Rafael[/name_m]. (With the nn Filo/Philo)
However [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is also very handsome and jaunty.

As for the nicknames like others have said [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] is too close for comfort to me. [name_u]Rafa[/name_u] could be cute.

Such a tough choice! I think [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is my favourite though, with nn [name_u]Rafa[/name_u]

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] and I’d use both as a nickname, and [name_m]Raffy[/name_m]. Rafe/Raffe when young and Raffa as a teen and on if they liked it!

Definitely [name_m]Rafael[/name_m].
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] has pure stuck-up rich kid vibes to me, whereas [name_m]Rafael[/name_m] is down-to-earth and could fit a lot of personalities.

I really like [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] and [name_m]Rafael[/name_m]!

but I LOVE [name_u]Rafa[/name_u]!
