What do you think of [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] [name_m]Isidore[/name_m]?
I don’t really have a set list of top combos, only top first names and then a selection of favourite middles which kind of get cycled round a bit So I just put this together quickly for @Tildabob’s wonderful top 3 thread.
Thoughts on these names individually and together please? I’m quite taken with it!
Thank you! I love [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] too and am trying to persuade my husband that it’s a more interesting [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], but [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] definitely has more spark
I’ve seen this comment before and I’ve definitely thought about it. I probably slightly prefer [name_u]Rafa[/name_u] over [name_u]Rafe[/name_u], partly for this reason, but [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] is my #1 and they’d be way too close. I’ve known several Rafes in real life so maybe that’s why my brain doesn’t make the instant connection, but still worth taking into consideration if others do.
I like [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] a lot, and [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] works well! I love [name_u]Rafa[/name_u] though, and would prefer to see something like [name_u]Rafa[/name_u] [name_m]Samson[/name_m], but that’s probably just me. I think you were the one to introduce [name_u]Rafa[/name_u] to me, so it’s always one of those names I associate with you, even moreso than [name_u]Rafe[/name_u]…
I think [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] is problematic because of its similarity to a word that replaces the F with a letter later on in the alphabet … (blurred for trigger warning), rape. Both letters are linguistically quite similar–they are both frontal consonants. Fun fact, the latter letter doesn’t exist in Arabic and Arabic-derivative languages and is connoted by an F with an extra marking].
Discounting teasing, even with the best intentions, [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] can be easily mistaken for above triggering word in several situations:
said by someone with poor enunciation or a speech difficulty
easily misheard especially if there is background noise / poor connection
autocorrect
Sorry!
What about Raphael, Rafferty, Rafferton, etc. Could be Raff for short. Etc.
Well you know I adore Isidore Rafe Isidore flows beautifully, too, and I love all the sounds together. I do struggle to get on board with Rafe despite it ticking all the boxes for the kind of name I usually like … not sure if it’s the similarity to the word others have mentioned, or something else. If I had my pick I’d go for Raff Isidore.

I’d go for [name_m]Raff[/name_m] [name_m]Isidore[/name_m].

Ooh [name_m]Raff[/name_m] is gorgeous too I hadn’t considered it as a full name before but I love nickname names and this one feels sturdy and a little gruff. Great suggestion!
Oh wow! I really like that combo! [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] is high on my list and [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] is just so cool [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] and K!t sound pretty great together too.
