i’ve been digging [name]Rafferty[/name] for sometime now!! I think it’s a great name.
Are you in the UK?
Should we have a boy, it has a good chance of being called [name]Rafferty[/name] - i love it - it is 2nd on my boys list at the moment and it is my DH’s top boys name (though i am working on getting my 1st choice - [name]Teddy[/name])
We would call him [name]Rafe[/name] or [name]Raffy[/name] for short. I think it goes perfectly with [name]Beckett[/name] - both British surname choices - perfect!
no, we’re actually in california.
we still get weird looks when we say beckett’s name, so i can only imagine how well rafferty would go over here =) but we really like it!
Wow, weird looks at [name]Beckett[/name]? Seriously? You’d think [name]California[/name] would be ahead of the times with names, but we’re soooo behind! I live in [name]Orange[/name] County and it’s very very rare that I get a positive response when I say my son’s name is [name]Dashiell[/name] (it’s quite a bit better when I say [name]Dash[/name], but still lots of people look confused)… But that said, I never regret his name, so if you love [name]Rafferty[/name] and don’t think you’ll mind what people say, go for it! As I already said and everyone else said, it’s amazing with [name]Beckett[/name]!
maybe because it has that “british” vibe and isn’t a tryndee name? although, now with all the celebrity babies named beckett i think it might be heading up the hip list! everyone assumes we named him after david beckham…i just have to roll my eyes at people’s ignorance some times =)
Before you take the leap and name him [name]Rafferty[/name] remember that in Australia the name has a slang interpretation.
If something is not organised well it is said to be going by [name]Rafferty[/name]'s rules. In other words there is no organisation it is a shambles, so while the name is okay the slang meaning is not good.
