We are back on the TTC train and currently our front runner for a boy would be [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m]. Not set in stone, but a strong first as the other names at the top of my list have been sniped by close friends/family during our long TTC journey.
I’d like to use an honour name if possible.
Some of the current options are:
[name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] [name_m]Philip[/name_m] ([name_m]Philip[/name_m] for my late Father)
[name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] [name_m]Walter[/name_m] ([name_m]Walter[/name_m] for DH’s Father/Grandfather)
[name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] (My Dads middle was [name_m]Anthony[/name_m])
But I can’t say I really love any of these combinations. I’m open to any suggestions for firsts and middles at this point, but if it goes with [name_m]Philip[/name_m], that would mean the world to me.
Other names hanging out on my list include:
[name_m]Alasdair[/name_m]
[name_u]Alcott[/name_u]
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] (Used by friend, just for inspo!)
[name_u]Destry[/name_u]
[name_m]Dresden[/name_m]
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Anders[/name_m])
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m]
[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] (Used by friend, just for inspo!)
[name_m]Maxim[/name_m]
[name_m]Preston[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] (nn [name_u]Rafe[/name_u])
[name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]
[name_m]Theron[/name_m] (Used by family, just for inspo!)
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]
I haven’t thought about names in several years, so I’m not really sold on anything! These are all from several years ago.
[name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] is so cool. I have [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] on my own list. [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] [name_m]Philip[/name_m] is my favorite! Handsome, strong, distinctive, and unexpected.
I like [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] a lot and [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] [name_m]Phillip[/name_m] is great
I’d also throw in the suggestions of
[name_m]Phineas[/name_m]
[name_u]Murphy[/name_u]
[name_m]Conrad[/name_m]
[name_m]Cornell[/name_m]
[name_u]Everest[/name_u]
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_u]Perry[/name_u]
[name_m]Leander[/name_m]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_m]Sholto[/name_m]
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m]
[name_m]Axel[/name_m]
I’m not keen on [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] at all, but [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] [name_m]Phillip[/name_m] flows really well.
[name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] has a lovely mystical feel, but I feel like it would often be mistaken for the more familiar [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]. I do have to say that I prefer the sounds of [name_m]Alistair[/name_m].
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] has the same vibe, and I quite like this one too!
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] is one of my favourite names. It has a soft, rugged Western feel.
First, I find it interesting that you have [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] AND [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] on the list side by side because it’s the name I’ve used personally. With that said I personally like [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] [name_m]Phillip[/name_m] but if you’re looking for something more interesting and daring I think [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_m]Phillip[/name_m] sounds beautiful.
@southern.maple - Thank you for the high praise! [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] [name_m]Philip[/name_m] is definitely the strong front runner but for some reason it just feels very, abrupt, in my head. I’m probably overthinking! I’ve been toying with the idea of a second middle perhaps, thinking maybe that would help, but there’s a good chance of a hyphenated last name, and I feel like thats a whole lotta name to saddle a kid with! [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] [name_m]Philip[/name_m] Mxxxxxx-Zxxxxxxx is a lot of letters hahahah
@greyblue - Thank you for your support on [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] and [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] [name_m]Philip[/name_m]! From your suggestions, [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] is also a family name funnily enough! [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] is gorgeous, as is [name_u]Everest[/name_u], but my DH would never go for them. He’s much more conservative in his style, his favourite being [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. I’m surprised he’s agreed to [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] helps me out on that front!
wilkie8709 - Thank you!
tileishamaree - I agree with your comments on [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], but I do still like it better than [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], the “Stair” part of the name trips me up in my head. [name_m]Evander[/name_m] is easily my second favourite name right now, and I agree with your thoughts on [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], there’s just something that draws me to the name! But I’m not sure I’d ever actually use it.
valleylen - You have a little [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]/[name_m]Harrison[/name_m] [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]? That’s lovely!! I adore your suggestion of [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_m]Philip[/name_m], that’s exactly up my alley of whimsical practicality, but DH would never go for [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] unfortunately!
gabriellenz - I try to not think about [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] [name_m]Bolton[/name_m] hahahaha, however, he was clever, despite being a narcissitic sociopath. Luckily, not too many people I know were too into GoT, so I think I can get away with it!
[name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] is a great choice! [name_u]Unique[/name_u] but established. I don’t think you can go wrong with a middle, here. I like [name_m]Walter[/name_m] as much as [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] with this one. Sorry, that doesn’t help you much, does it?
