Random Name Thoughts 💭

celebrity random name thought:

Chiefs quarterback [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] Mahomes & his wife [name_f]Brittney[/name_f] have a daughter named [name_u]Sterling[/name_u] & a son nicknamed [name_m]Bronze[/name_m]. Don’t love the theme myself but it would be so perfect if they have another daughter & named her [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]! [name_u]Sterling[/name_u], [name_m]Bronze[/name_m], & [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]:yellow_heart::football:

I was working on my collection of [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] stories that I want to print and give away this [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] when it occurred to me that my future children (along with my brothers’ and friends’) will probably grow up with these stories, and especially with the names in these stories. Suddenly I felt like I have an immense power in my hands here. Like, what if one of them names their favourite teddy bear after one of the children in these stories?

I just thought how cool it would be for a story to have B/G twins named Perhaps & Maybe… :flushed:

[name_u]Percy[/name_u] & [name_f]May[/name_f]

me: [name_m]Georg[/name_m]?
DH: no, it’s an old man name
me: that’s probably for the better, I constantly confuse it with [name_m]Gregor[/name_m] anyway
DH: how?? [name_m]Gregor[/name_m] is the much better name!
me: wait is that a yes to [name_m]Gregor[/name_m]

…that’s the prologue to the story of how I got my own child’s name wrong, isn’t it

Idk if it’s just me but how come people named [name_f]Lilly[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], or [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] are always edgy but people named [name_f]Lily[/name_f] are always not

Our top girl name contender shares the first two letters in common with our son’s name. The sounds are different but I still can’t decide if this bothers me or not. We only intend to have one more child, so there is no concern about creating or being boxed into a pattern. The names just feel simultaneously too matchy yet not overly so. Gah.

Also, I heard someone pronounce [name_u]Zion[/name_u] as “zye-in” rather than “zye-on” and I actually like that. Not a name I would use regardless but still.

Rodent has an excellent name sound. It strikes me as a masc name. Middle name something elegant Rodent [name_m]Armand[/name_m]? Rodent [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m]? [name_m]Eh[/name_m]? [name_m]Eh[/name_m]? :rat: :mouse2:

Realizing I have [name_u]Lane[/name_u], [name_u]Shane[/name_u], [name_m]Zane[/name_m], [name_u]Blaine[/name_u], and [name_u]Raine[/name_u] on my boys’ list but I’m not a fan of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] for a girl… what does this mean :eye: :lips: :eye:

Summary

Actually, looking at my boys’ list, I definitely have see a pattern with names I gravitate towards: one syllable names with a long a sound in the middle - [name_u]Shane[/name_u], [name_m]Slade[/name_m], [name_m]Zane[/name_m], [name_u]Lane[/name_u], [name_u]Shea[/name_u], [name_u]Raine[/name_u], [name_u]Blaine[/name_u], [name_u]Sage[/name_u], Gray… and I like a lot more but don’t have them on my list such as [name_u]Dane[/name_u], Kane/Kayne, Dade, [name_u]Jace[/name_u], [name_u]Chase[/name_u], [name_u]Blaise[/name_u], etc…
