Rank them from most to least popular and your reasons why.
I can’t choose and I am really struggling
1st: [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - I love the flow of the name - it’s so melodic, fun and pretty
2nd: [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] - I love the flair of it and how it looks
3rd: [name_f]Athena[/name_f] - A nice name with history, but I always go to say [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] instead, which is why I ranked it third.
In terms of popularity/usage, I’d say [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is the only one that has become more mainstream. [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] and [name_f]Athena[/name_f] aren’t unheard of by any means but they’re not so familiar
-
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] - I have always LOOOOOVED this name - it’s a personal fave!! Cute and quirky, without being silly or weird. Feminine and strong. Sounds like a clever girl from a storybook
Also this is by far the least common name on the list - she may never meet another [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]!
-
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - very pretty, but be aware of the [name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] story before you use this name for your child. So, so beautiful and melodic though, with fun history, literary, and musical associations! A winner for sure
-
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] - I know a few Athenas, and honestly it seems a little unsophisticated to me. Maybe a bit too on the nose? Also too much potential irony if she struggles academically. Not a bad choice, but I much prefer the other two.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!!
All are lovely for their own reasons… but I’d have to go with: [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f].
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]- soft sound with a strong impact, love the mythological ties and symbolism, stands out without being try hard.
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]- cute but not so cute that it’s hard to imagine on an adult, nice marriage of a name that feels modern and vintage, and honestly I just love O names.
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]- frilly but strong, pleasant flow and sound, feels refreshing among the Lilys, [name_f]Lilas[/name_f], and Lailas. The only thing hurting this one for me is the [name_m]Tom[/name_m] [name_m]Jones[/name_m]’ song of the same name.
I love your taste and think all three are strong names, but I would order them:
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] - although within my experience this is the more frequently used name, I’ve always utterly adored this name and love the nicknames “[name_u]Ottie[/name_u]” & “[name_f]Tilly[/name_f]”
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - to me this sounds old fashioned in the best of ways and I love the option to shorten to [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], which I’ve always thought sounds superior to [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Layla[/name_f]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] - I love that this name drips with history and mythology
Good luck x
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] - I love mythology names, and this is such a strong, feminine one. I know a little [name_f]Athena[/name_f], and she is the sassiest little. This name is spunky and powerful.
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] - I find it very sweet sounding. I am not the biggest fan, but I can see the appeal for others. It does look very pretty written.
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - At the bottom because there is waaaay to much of a negative connotation for me to every like this name. I know it is aesthetically nice, but I cannot get away from the story / meaning.
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] - I love that there is no other name like it. Nickname [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is sweet. I love how it sounds
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] - I like that it has great history and its sound. I would use nickname Athy but it doesn’t need it.
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - it is very sweet but the double “L” doesn’t appeal to me. I would use nickname [name_u]Del[/name_u]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] – I adore this name (it’s just such a pity it’s far to similar to my own name for me to use). [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is gentle in sound, yet strong and beautifully fierce, no doubt due to her mythological persona. [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is slightly unusual, yet not at all too unusual, due to the common A- and -a beginning and ending, and the soft and familiar -ena sound within. She’s divine.
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] – [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] is a sweet little dear. It feels vintage, but would work well on a modern child.
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] – [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is nice, albeit a little frilly. I do tend to sing ‘Hey there [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]’ in my head though, and the meaning and Biblical story aren’t at all pleasant.
*I know of identical twin toddlers names [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] & [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - the perfect pair in my opinion. [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is of a different style (more akin to my own style), so it’s the one I like best of the three.
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]- vibrant and strong! Also a bit ethereal. I really like it!
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]- very pretty and girly
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]- maybe weird but to me this name is very floral and perfume-y. I love the sound but my vibe is kind of killed because it feels like sort of a hipster choice where I live and def seems to be on the up
-
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]: [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is really nice! I like the nickname potential and the way it sounds.
-
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]: lovely name though a little too mythical and tied to the goddess for me.
-
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]: I’ve never been a fan of [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] and personally don’t understand the hype. I just think of otters (which are cute, but I don’t think the word itself looks or sounds cute)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]: lovely, melodic choice.
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]: I know a couple Athenas and they seem to wear this well. Also the goddess association is pretty cool.
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]: I dont really like it. I cant pronounce it right for some reason.
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] is by far my top choice…very cool vibe w/the goddess of wisdom connection & I really just like the way it sounds.
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] & [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] are tied…while I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]'s a pretty name, all I can think of is the [name_m]Samson[/name_m] & [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] story. [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] is a bit too frilly for me.
- [name_f]Athena[/name_f] - I like the ‘th’ sound, and it’s generally quite usable.
- [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - a bit frilly and over the top for me, and [name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] story is a negative.
- [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] - I just can’t get on board with this name, and all I hear are otter and utterly.
-
Ottolie- love this. I love o names beyond [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. [name_m]Olaf[/name_m], [name_m]Olav[/name_m], [name_m]Otto[/name_m], [name_f]Olga[/name_f], opal, [name_f]Ouida[/name_f] and Orka are all names I would use in a heartbeat beat.
-
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] I like it, but don’t love it. I have met a few [name_f]Athena[/name_f]'s and they were bland. That probably plays into it.
-
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]- completely dislike. I’m bored with the double l sound. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], lily [name_f]Lila[/name_f], etc so I think it’s just different tastes. Very usable I’m just not going to gush like I would Ottolie
