List One
[name_u]Love[/name_u]
[name_f]Winona[/name_f] - This name has grown on me a lot lately. The sounds are so lilting and smooth and fun to say. I think it’s a pretty chic name.
Like
[name_u]Florence[/name_u] - solid and underused, ready for a comeback
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] - cool and solid with lots of good nicknames
Meh
[name_u]Kestrel[/name_u] - it has a cool sound and might make a good middle. But other than that it’s all bird to me.
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] - nothing wrong with it, never been one of my favorites, always seemed old fashioned to me. I love [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] though and that’s helped me become more ambivalent on [name_f]Ruth[/name_f].
Lose
[name_u]Clove[/name_u] - I see the appeal… but garlic.
[name_u]Juno[/name_u] - nothing wrong with it, just never liked it personally
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - nothing wrong with it I guess, but it’s probably my least favorite girl name. I find the sound extremely unpleasant.
[name_f]Runa[/name_f] - Sounds like a video game character. I also feel like the syllables are at odds with each other, if that makes sense? They’re a little unexpected together, but not in a way that sounds right.
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] - Video game character or 90 year old woman.
List Two
[name_u]Love[/name_u]
[name_m]Casper[/name_m] - I go back and forth because the ghost is a strong association, but it’s not a bad one I guess. I’m a sucker for a good [name_m]Cas[/name_m]- name and this one is strong and handsome!
[name_u]Forest[/name_u] - Prefer this spelling! Great name
[name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] - Cool and sleek and sophisticated
[name_m]Silas[/name_m] - handsome and traditional but fits into the modern age too
Like
[name_m]Julius[/name_m] - kinda cool and has a neat historic connection, I don’t tend to love Jul- boy names but this one is probably my favorite
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] - I like it a lot as a nickname but I think it does need a longer name
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u] - Prefer -teen pronunciation as it sounds international but -tine isn’t bad.
Meh
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] - nothing wrong with it, just not my style
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] - overwhelmingly [name_u]Southern[/name_u] and unattractive sound to my ears
Lose
[name_m]Viggo[/name_m] - I can’t really place why I’m not vibing with this name… it sounds like a noun or something, like maybe a species of bug or a plant or a disease? something from biology, if that makes sense? I will admit I am speaking from a [name_u]North[/name_u] American perspective so I am unfamiliar with the name, maybe it works better in a different area
[name_m]Wells[/name_m] - I really do not like the trend of plural nouns as boy names. I work with two (Parks and Gates), and even though most names grow on me once I meet someone with them, these kind of names have not and it still feels weird, like I’m calling them a noun and not their name. I definitely see [name_m]Wells[/name_m] falling into that category for me.
