I went through the SSA boy lists from the 40s to the 60s and chose known names that were not super popular and did not get super popular later on. What do you think of these results?
Favourite to least favourite…
[name_m]Ralph[/name_m]
[name_m]Floyd[/name_m]
[name_m]Ernest[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m] (this just beat [name_m]Antonio[/name_m] because of the nickname [name_m]Vin[/name_m])
[name_m]Antonio[/name_m]
I would suggest [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m], [name_u]Francis[/name_u], [name_m]Raymond[/name_m], [name_m]Bernard[/name_m], [name_m]Edgar[/name_m], and [name_m]Martin[/name_m].
I love [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]! [name_m]Ralph[/name_m] and [name_m]Antonio[/name_m] are nice too. I don’t love [name_m]Ernest[/name_m] or [name_m]Floyd[/name_m].
Vincent
[name_m]Ralph[/name_m]
[name_m]Antonio[/name_m]
[name_m]Floyd[/name_m]
[name_m]Ernest[/name_m]
Vincent
[name_m]Ernest[/name_m]
[name_m]Floyd[/name_m]
[name_m]Ralph[/name_m] (I want to like this name so much, but all I can think of is vomiting )
[name_m]Antonio[/name_m]
Ralph would be rather refreshing on a little boy. I also know of a young [name_m]Ernest[/name_m] (goes by [name_m]Ernie[/name_m]) and it actually suits him rather well
Antonio – [name_u]Love[/name_u] the Italian vibes.
Vincent – [name_u]Van[/name_u] Gogh makes it cool for me.
Ernest – Not sure if I really like it, but I do like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_u]Wilde[/name_u]’s play featuring the name, so no real negative associations. Might not be ready for a comeback yet, though.
Ralph – Still a little too dated for me.
Floyd – Mmm…tbh, I wouldn’t be sorry if this name stayed buried. It just does not have an appealing sound, imho.
