Ranking my boys list

I am starting to feel like I am getting too many names on my UC, or at least I am starting to feel the need to get a bit more clarity on which ones really are my possibly usable favorites. I’ve got options around five different themes that are important to me like astronomy, science, literature, nature, virtue. I’d like to start by at least ranking under each category in order. That would give me a top 5 to start if I had one from each category.

So, I am asking for help in getting feedback in ranking the following under each subcategory, either in order of preference from most to least, or scoring out of 10. Comments are always of course appreciated and

Yes, this is my boys list  I know some of them are a bit gender bender, but please rank them from a boy perspective.

Astronomical -

Skye - 6.5/10 very refreshing on a boy, remind me of mamma mia which is a bonus. I just don’t know whether I love it as a first.

Aquila - 4/10 not really my style, slightly feminine sounding for me personally x

Seren - 8/10 I’ve always loved [name_u]Seren[/name_u] for a girl, it’s lovely for a boy too xx

Astrophel - 3/10 All i think when i see this is Apostrophe but it is quite a cool name

Science and Maths-
I really love all of these names they’d all be a solid 7.5/10 for me :))

Nature -
[name_u]Brooke[/name_u] - 4/10, I prefer it spelled [name_u]Brook[/name_u] for a boy, its a nice name just not my style.

Summer - 2/10 this is just a little too feminine for me.

Autumn - 5/10 I can see this more on a boy than summer but I still think it feels too firmly placed as a girl name.

Bay - 7/10 I imagine a really calm, relaxed and gentle little boy named [name_u]Bay[/name_u], super sweet!

Literature -

Bronte - 5/10 I don’t really love this name for girls or boys but the association is so wonderful.

Evelyn - 6/10 [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] for a boy has grown on me recently but I think I slightly prefer [name_f]Evelin[/name_f] for boys.

Darcy - 9/10 Recently, I’ve been loving [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] as a boy name, it’s so handsome and of course Mr [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] just makes this name perfect.

Kim - 3/10 In the present day, this name is just too [name_u]Kim[/name_u] Kardashian. Which is a shame because I would like it more if it wasn’t associated with her.

Virtue -

Hope - 5/10 I have actually met a little boy who’s middle name was [name_f]Hope[/name_f] (I can’t remember his first, it was from a different language) but I think it’s sweet. I don’t think i’d use it as a first name though.

Honor - 4/10 I don’t like the way this looks (to me that’s important as you can probably tell, a name has to look nice written down for me to really like it :joy:)

Haven - 7/10 this is really nice on a boy actually!

Amity - same as the girl’s thread, too wordy.

I really like [name_m]Faraday[/name_m]! Had never heard that name before and I really like it.

I feel like it would be unfair for me to rank this as a lot of these names are on my list for a girl and I cant imagine them on a boy even though i have nothing against gender bending!

astronomical:
[name_u]Skye[/name_u] - I absolutely love [name_u]Skye[/name_u] on a boy! I think it’s so handsome and strong, with also soft softness to it. I like the [name_u]Sky[/name_u] spelling more, but that’s a personal preference!
[name_m]Astrophel[/name_m] - a name I’ve only fairly recently discovered, it’s so lovely! I especially like the meaning.
[name_u]Seren[/name_u] - I’ve never considered this for a boy, and I love it!!! it’s very handsome and cool.
[name_u]Aquila[/name_u] - I know this is ranked last, but I still love it! I’m always recommending this name, i love the look and sound!

science and math:
[name_m]Newton[/name_m] - oh, [name_m]Newton[/name_m] is one of my greatest loves and it makes me smile seeing it on someone else’s list! I think it’s so handsome, and I love the nn [name_m]Newt[/name_m] so much!
[name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] - this is a handsome name, but it does seem a bit expected. I’ve known a few of them. I prefer the nn [name_m]Wells[/name_m] over the more popular [name_u]Max[/name_u] (though [name_u]Max[/name_u] is sweet too!!).
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] - this is a name I used to strongly disliked, but I’ve been warming up to it lately. It’s cuddly and cute and nn [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] is adorable!
[name_m]Faraday[/name_m] - very cool middle name, but I don’t really like it as a first, sorry!

nature:
[name_u]Bay[/name_u] - one of my favorites! Another name I love seeing on someone else’s list! It’s handsome and sweet, with hidden strength. I love the water association too. (There’s a character on OUAT that is named [name_f]Bae[/name_f], and he wears it so well that it made me fall in love with the name!)
[name_u]Brooke[/name_u] - this is also on my boy list!!! I think it’s so handsome on a boy. I personally prefer the [name_u]Brook[/name_u] spelling.
[name_f]Autumn[/name_f] - I’ve never considered this for a boy, but I like it! It’s so warm and cozy. I think it’d maybe work better as a middle though!
[name_f]Summer[/name_f] - I think [name_f]Summer[/name_f] can absolutely work on a boy! It’s lovely. It’s just my least favorite of your nature names!

literature:
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u] - I love [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] so very much! it’s handsome and dashing and wonderful. I knew a boy in high school with the name and instantly fell in love with it!
[name_f]Bronte[/name_f] - I think this is a cool choice for a boy, it sounds very strong! I also like nn [name_m]Bron[/name_m] (which reminds me of a character from Game of Thrones!).
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] - are you pronouncing this “eev-lyn”? Because I really love that pronunciation! it’s so handsome, warm, and unexpected. I do think it might be a lifetime of mispronunciations though, unfortunately.
[name_u]Kim[/name_u] - I’ve known multiple boys named [name_u]Kim[/name_u], so it isn’t unusual, just not my style.

virtue:
[name_u]Honor[/name_u] - handsome and strong! I also love [name_u]Valor[/name_u] which is similar.
[name_u]Haven[/name_u] - very cool and I can absolutely picture it on a boy!
[name_f]Amity[/name_f] - not my favorite, but it could work! Maybe as a middle though, because of it’s similarities to [name_f]Amy[/name_f].
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] - I think this could also make a nice middle, but I’m not a fan of it as a first, sorry!!

overall favorites: [name_m]Newton[/name_m], [name_u]Bay[/name_u], [name_u]Skye[/name_u], [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], [name_m]Astrophel[/name_m], [name_u]Honor[/name_u], [name_u]Aquila[/name_u], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Bronte[/name_f], [name_u]Seren[/name_u], and [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u]!

I am a huge fan of more feminine names for boys, so I absolutely love your list!!!

Skye- 3/10, [name_u]Sky[/name_u] works better for a boy imo but I see the name as really feminine anyways
[name_u]Aquila[/name_u]- 2/10, not familiar with this but it’s not my favorite
[name_u]Seren[/name_u]- 4/10, seems more feminine
[name_m]Astrophel[/name_m]- 2/10, seems like it would be difficult to wear

Maxwell- 5/10, solid but common
[name_m]Faraday[/name_m]- 7/10, cool
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m]- 5/10, nice name but I think of the turtle
[name_m]Newton[/name_m]- 7/10, I love [name_m]Darwin[/name_m] as well

Brooke- 2/10, [name_u]Brook[/name_u] or [name_u]Brooks[/name_u] would be better, this is super feminine
[name_f]Summer[/name_f]- 5/10, I think the right boy could pull it off
[name_f]Autumn[/name_f]- 2/10, again, the right boy could pull it off
[name_u]Bay[/name_u]- 4/10

Bronte- 5/10, not bad but I’m more familiar with it for girls
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]- 2/10, I don’t dislike using this for boys again but it’s not my favorite for either
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u]- 7/10, prefer for girls but it obviously works well for boys
[name_u]Kim[/name_u]- 1/10, it’s [name_u]Kim[/name_u] Jong Un if you use it on a boy for me

Hope- 2/10, too feminine
[name_u]Honor[/name_u]- 6/10, still feminine but would work for a boy
[name_u]Haven[/name_u]- 3/10, too feminine but might work for a boy
[name_f]Amity[/name_f]- 5/10, it’s hard to picture but I guess this isn’t a common girl name

I like gender bending boy to girl but most of these are not ones I can picture, I’m sorry!

Thank you everyone who helped me with this. I was curious to get feedback and then also to notice my own response to that feedback. What surprised me a little bit is that with just a few exceptions most of the names ranked quite close to each other. Some people would rank one name top and others at the bottom etc. Being a bit of a number nerd I tried to score these both based only on the rankings and then using some of the scores out of 10 to give the ranking a sort of weighting. Sometimes it changed the results, but since I am using it more for feedback it’s not like it was a vote. This has helped me almost half my boy list which was the goal.

Astronomical
This was one of the closest groups by both ranking and score. [name_u]Skye[/name_u] and [name_u]Seren[/name_u] were slightly more popular and I am keeping those. [name_u]Aquila[/name_u] actually came bottom on both ranking methods but I am still keeping that one on my list as a maybe with the right combo.

[name_u]Science[/name_u] and [name_m]Math[/name_m]
This group was actually the closest. [name_m]Newton[/name_m] was the one that ranked lowest by ranking and yet highest by score so it seems to have a strong love/hate. But after looking at the scores and rankings and comments I have decided to keep [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] as a maybe.

[name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] is a bit more common than [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]. That doesn’t bother me too much and it is on the decline now. But I especially love [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] both for the connection to [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] [name_m]Franklin[/name_m], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] (who [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] is named after on my girl list) and also [name_m]Franklin[/name_m], TN.

[name_u]Nature[/name_u]
This was the third closest category. Again there were differences between the rankings and the weighted scores. [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] was most consistent on the rankings but the enthusiasm (based on the scores) was low. [name_u]Bay[/name_u] and [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] came out top based on enthusiasm. I was a bit surprised by [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] but like it. [name_f]Summer[/name_f] came out bottom on both but I can’t give [name_f]Summer[/name_f] up just yet. I am a summer kind of person and I still think it might be refreshing on a boy and is similar to Somner. So I am keeping [name_u]Bay[/name_u], [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] and [name_f]Summer[/name_f] for now.

Literature
This one was a slam dunk. [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] left the rest way behind in terms of rankings. Again, the enthusiasm scores were a bit tighter. I am definitely dropping [name_u]Kim[/name_u]. It has too many negative associations now and I don’t have a strong enough reason to like it. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] I have liked for so long I don’t want to give it up just yet, but it’s very tied with [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] which I also think is a nice name. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] of course either suffers from being so popular for girls, or would be refreshing to see on a boy depending on your perspective. [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] is a more established unisex name and both [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] and [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] are not in the top 1000 at the moment. So I am keeping [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. I am also adding Jules (Verne) to this category.

[name_f]Virtue[/name_f]
This also had a clear winner. [name_u]Honor[/name_u] came out far ahead of the others at least in terms of ranking. But in enthusiasm (ratings) it was much closer. [name_f]Amity[/name_f], [name_f]Hope[/name_f] and [name_u]Haven[/name_u] came out pretty much together in terms of rankings and [name_u]Haven[/name_u] a little bit more enthusiastic than the others. I have found a few references to boys being named [name_u]Haven[/name_u] and I am going to keep it but I am not strongly enthusiastic on it and will probably replace this in time. It’s time to let [name_f]Amity[/name_f] and [name_f]Hope[/name_f] go.

Thanks again for the help. Girls list to follow later.
