I’ve posted here before about a name for our soon to be baby, but now that we’re only 4 weeks away from due date, I need to refine things further.
My husband has been adamant for ages that our son is to be [name]William[/name], but I worry about just how popular it is where we live (number 1 in New South [name]Wales[/name]). So I’ve almost convinced him that [name]Raphael[/name] (although being from a Spanish speaking background he prefers [name]Rafael[/name] spelling, but we’ll debate that later), is another option.
However, this little boy must also have two middle names (like his dad and older brother) and my list of names isn’t very long! I can’t seem to make a name that just flows right with either [name]Raphael[/name] or [name]William[/name] as the first name. Any suggestions? Here are my lists –
First name
[name]Raphael[/name] (or [name]Rafael[/name])
[name]William[/name]
Middle name
[name]Raphael[/name] (or [name]Rafael[/name])
[name]William[/name]
[name]Ruben[/name] (my husbands first name)
[name]Horace[/name] (my grandfathers name)
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Rowe[/name] (my surname)
There isn’t much to work with there, so I hope something lovely can be created.
I like [name]William[/name], [name]Horace[/name] and [name]Rafael[/name] best so [name]William[/name] [name]Horace[/name] [name]Rafael[/name] or [name]Rafael[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Horace[/name]. Since your tie to [name]Raphael[/name] seems to be through Spanish I like the F spelling best
Thank you, thank you, for all your help. I’m finding this one really tricky to decide. My partner has announced that he isn’t a huge fan of [name]Jasper[/name], so that is being ditched. And I’m finding that whenever I say my surname ([name]Rowe[/name]) in the middle it just sounds odd to me, which is a pity, but I’ve decided it is out of the running too. I’m also finding all the W’s and R’s a little difficult to pronounce together, so I’ve decided they need a little distance.
I think I’ll have a shortlist to try out on the new little boy consisting of
[name]Raphael[/name] [name]Ruben[/name] [name]Horace[/name]
[name]William[/name] [name]Horace[/name] [name]Raphael[/name]
[name]William[/name] [name]Horace[/name] [name]Ruben[/name]
I’m still not sure, maybe I need to go trawling for some more names, my list just isn’t 100% inspiring. And I’m definitely having no ‘oh that’s perfect’ moment. Boys names are so difficult!
[name]Raphael[/name]/[name]Rafael[/name] is one of my favorite boys names! It is my brothers and grandfather’s name. I personally like the [name]Rafael[/name] spelling but either way is fine. I do like [name]Rafael[/name] [name]Wiliam[/name] [name]Rowe[/name]! Congrats and good luck!
I think that [name]William[/name] [name]Horace[/name] [name]Raphael[/name] would be a great choice. That way you and your husband both get the name you love, and you honor your grandfather with [name]Horace[/name].
Although I have to ask - is saving [name]William[/name] or [name]Raphael[/name] for a second son not an option?
@ agirlinred. I’d love to save one for another son, but this is already our second son, and I don’t think I’ll be having any more. (Although you can never know!) [name]William[/name] [name]Horace[/name] [name]Raphael[/name] is at the top of the list, as that is by far my husbands favourite, and I’m really happy that we are honouring my grandfather.
Still a little worried about [name]William[/name] being number 1 here … but, well, oh well.
