I am in love with the name Rapunzel, but I would never use it as a first name to avoid teasing. [name]Do[/name] you think it would be okay as a middle name? Or do you think the name is totally unusable.
It’s a tricky question, I think I could work, but might raise a few eyebrows.
I think it could work.
It’s a weird one for sure, but I think anything goes in the mn spot. Personally, I wouldn’t want it to be my mn. It’s clunky sounding and would make short hair or ‘bad’ hair of any kind really ironic.
I think it could work as a middle name, nobody really uses their middle name in daily life, or if it bothers you, you could use it as a second middle
Yes lots of people use their middle name so if you don’t love Rapunzel in the first name spot enough don’t put it in the middle.
It’s a cute idea, but I wouldn’t do it.
Its definitely usable in the mn spot. Total GP for me
IF this works for you… will you let us know?
[name]One[/name] of my GP names that I wished to use before but didn’t is Coppélia… yes, after the ballet. No significant meaning but I love looking at the name itself. In the end, I bought my daughter a doll and asked her to name it that. I tried nicknaming it… I would say, where’s Opie, Pelia… [name]Pella[/name]… etc… but my daughter always calls her Coppélia.
I think this name thing… it’s in the genes.
Not something that I would do to my daughter or want to by my own name.
I’d be so embarrassed if my middle name were Rapunzel.
Rapunzel was always my favorite princess. I would think the girl would have to have long, thick hair to go with it!
It might make for a few raised eyebrows, but it really it a great sounding name to worry too much about such a strong and obvious association. As for it’s usability in the middle, a little girl would love it, but a teen and adult might grow to hate it, especially if they are looking into a professional career or peers find out about it at school - it depends on how you feel about such possible ramifications for your daughter (that said, no matter the name, it seems it can be torn apart until something negative and tease-worthy comes from it, so I personally wouldn’t bother too much about that, and, it is a middle, not a given first, so not as obvious). I would love to see it as a second middle myself, that way should she chose to ignore it for professional purposes she could easily do so.
When I doubt my self, I ask, how would I feel introducing myself?
“[name]Hi[/name] I’m [name]Jane[/name] Rapunzel [name]Smith[/name]”.
I’d feel stupid. Its a no from me, sorry.
It seems like it’s split evenly between “don’t do it” and “do it”… I love the name and originally wanted to use it as a first name, but moved it to middle realizing she could be teased.
I have no doubts really in using it. I really love the name and I would love to make it my name, but that would just be a mess. My fiance’ is unsure of it so I wanted to make a forum to see what other people thought.
I have also looked it up before, but there are a few people who have used Rapunzel as a middle so I know I am not the first.
well, never mind, my fiance’ and I are thinking of scratching Rapunzel as a middle name… but thanks for all your opinions!
