Rare, magical, feminine

Hello,

Care to offer some suggestions of girls names that you feel meet this criteria? I’m a little bored of my favourites and I want to look further afield. I love names that are borderline frilly, romantic, historical… and very uncommon. [name]Love[/name] references to nature and literature.

See my signature for my current favourites… Surprise me - be as imaginative as you like…

Thank you
x abelle

I love finding these types of name! Your daughter’s name is stunning, btw.

Flutura - Means “[name]Butterfly[/name]” in Albanian. Pronounced “floo-TOO-rah”.
Catinca - I’m not sure on the meaning of this one, I heard it on the lovely little Romanian actress Catinca Untaru. Pronounced “cah-TING-uh”.
Musidora - Unsure of the meaning. It was the name of French silent film actress. She was known as a vamp and was compared to [name]Theda[/name] [name]Bara[/name]. Pronounced “mews-EH-dora”.
[name]Zsuzsanna[/name] - Hungarian form of [name]Susanna[/name]. Pronounced “ZHOO-zhaw-naw”.
Viorica - Means “[name]Bluebell[/name]” in Romanian. Pronounced “boour-EEK-uh”.
Endzela - Means “[name]Snowdrop[/name]” in Georgian. Pronounced “en-[name]ZELL[/name]-uh”.
Aoide - Means “To sing” in Greek. She was one of the original three muses. Pronounced “ay-oh-dee” or “ah-ee-thee”. Not sure where the stress is n the syllables.
Blanchefleur - Means “White [name]Flower[/name]” in [name]German[/name] and French. Pronounced “BLANSH-flur”.
Soprata - Means “The Highest” in Latin. Pronounced “soh-[name]PRAT[/name]-uh”.
Peolive - Means “Descended from stone” in Norwegian. Pronounced “peh-oo-[name]LEE[/name]-veh”.
Llinos - Means “Greenfinch” or “[name]Linnet[/name]” in Welsh. Pronounced “HLIN-os”.
[name]Gretel[/name] - Not too unusual, but I love the meaning which is “[name]Pearl[/name]”. Pronounced “GREH-tehl”.

A lot of the names I found on a great name blog: blogofcharacters.wordpress. com

HTH!

oooh some great ones guys - I love that there’s so many I haven’t heard of before!

author in writing - [name]Cassandra[/name] is so beautiful but it’s actually fairly well used in Australia with the nn [name]Cassie[/name]… so I’m after that type of name, but less widely used.

saramee - Diedre and bernadette are ready for revival!

omama - I love [name]Octavia[/name] and [name]Aurelia[/name] (but I fear too similar to [name]Eulalie[/name]).

malk - [name]Gwyneira[/name], [name]Tamsin[/name] and [name]Melisande[/name] all take my interest. Thank you…

ribbons and soldiers - some beauties! Musidora and Endzela are really interesting… like the idea of nn [name]Zela[/name]. Aoide would be a nice compliment to [name]Eulalie[/name]. [name]Both[/name] greek and [name]Eulalia[/name] means 'good words/ sweet voice". Hmm I’ll ponder on these, thank you…

I totally agree [name]Deidre[/name] is a long lost gem. In Australia we say [name]Dee[/name] [name]Dree[/name] not Deed rah.

I think it suits a redhead to a T.

Really? I’ve only met one other person with this name but I’ve loved it since childhood. The Australians have good taste then!
