Rare names

What are some names that you rarely see in life AND/or mentioned on nameberry? What are some names outside of the Top 1000 that you love?

I see my names everywhere on nameberry, and I want a rare name for my future children, lol. My names are hot on nameberry!

Some that I like are (not actually checking all of these, but pretty sure they are not top 1000, some I am sure):

Sure there are more but those come to mind first. Good luck!

But if we mention them on nameberry they will probably become hot on nameberry! I really like some -ette names and they seem generally unpopular everywhere! I really like [name]Bernadette[/name], [name]Annette[/name], [name]Suzette[/name]…I think they’re adorable but no one seems to agree!

OK, you want a rare name?
I’d look for something Welsh. They have names rarely seen outside [name]Wales[/name].

Mind you, they may not be easily prn.

Tourmaline - as in the gemstone. Not on nameberry at all.
Hesper - [name]Evening[/name] star goddess. [name]Aurora[/name] gets all the play. Not on nameberry.
[name]Iolantha[/name] - yo-lan-thuh.
[name]Keziah[/name] - Biblical girls’ name, pretty meaning, still never in the top 1000, a bit like [name]Shoshana[/name] that way.
[name]Golda[/name] - A family name of mine, don’t know if yet ripe for revival.
[name]Zephirine[/name] - “[name]West[/name] wind” also there’s a rose hybrid called [name]Zephirine[/name] that is nearly thornless.
[name]Zelda[/name] - means “lucky” but a girl is “lucky” just to have this name as hardly anyone does.

Wow, bad question to ask me. I love a LOT of rare names.
[name]Lucinda[/name], [name]Fiamma[/name], [name]Bayou[/name], [name]Fable[/name], and [name]Lotus[/name] recently got my attention, but I’m not sure how much I love them yet.
I love [name]Lavender[/name], Plumeria, [name]Lilac[/name], [name]Freesia[/name], [name]Wisteria[/name], Lilikoi and [name]Magnolia[/name] compared to other flower names.
I love Welsh names as someone mentioned above, especially [name]Rhiannon[/name], Anchoret and [name]Arianwen[/name].
And then stuff like [name]Ursa[/name], [name]Verbena[/name], [name]Thalassa[/name], Theria, Ostara, [name]Galatea[/name], [name]Doveva[/name], [name]Rowena[/name], [name]Guadalupe[/name], [name]Guinevere[/name], [name]Calandra[/name], [name]Aquilina[/name], [name]Acacia[/name], [name]Astoria[/name], Belina, [name]Columba[/name], [name]Seraphina[/name], [name]Ekaterina[/name], Estreya, [name]Persephone[/name], [name]Millicent[/name], [name]Deirdre[/name], Pomeline, [name]Yelena[/name], [name]Viridiana[/name], [name]Chantal[/name], [name]Aviva[/name], [name]Cosima[/name], [name]Saskia[/name], [name]Oksana[/name], [name]Odessa[/name], [name]Sequoia[/name], [name]Emmanuelle[/name], [name]Opal[/name], [name]Maple[/name], [name]Coral[/name], [name]Clover[/name], [name]Alyona[/name], [name]Elva[/name], [name]Octavia[/name], [name]Genoveva[/name], [name]Timea[/name], [name]Twila[/name], [name]Lilika[/name], [name]Halina[/name] and [name]Lamia[/name].
And that’s just to name a small portion.

One of my best friends is named Kasia, I’ve never met another Kasia.
It’s not popular at all in my area. Its a Polish name, though, so it might be more popular in an area with a larger Polish population.

[name]Kerensa[/name]/[name]Kerenza[/name], I never see anywhere, and I love it. I’ve had some rude people make comments on other name forums.
“What the hell is [name]Kerensa[/name]?”
Um, a Cornish name that means [name]Love[/name], which is something you clearly need more of in your life.

[name]Lila[/name], but it’s recently jumped up in mentions a bit on here.

My current favorite for a girl is [name]Corisande[/name], there hasn’t been one born in my province in the last two decades at least. (That’s as far back as the lists go!) It’s very very rare, I’ve never met one ever.

Also, Names that are popular on Nameberry, are rarely actually popular in real life. [name]Remember[/name], Nameberry is just a sampling of people naming their babies. There are tons upon tons of babies born everywhere each year. The current most-popular berry names on here that seem to get a lot of mentions are barely used where I come from.

This was not easy but I worked to find names in the high 900s or out of the top 1000 that are still appealing without being weird or made up. There are definitely many names from all over the world that are less common but not difficult. Look for more info on these names on baby names world website as many are not on nameberry. It sometimes takes me a bit of time to consider an unusual name so if you are truly looking for something uncommon give new names some time before you decide whether you would use them. That said, does anything appeal?

I find that these are rarely mentioned around name sites/forums:

[name]Just[/name] a few that I like.

For girls some of my favorite ones i do not see on here very often are:

What do you think about the name Azucena? Pronounced: Ah-zoo-say-nah or Ah-zoo-see-nah

What about:

All I can really think of is alternatives to popular names, either popular on Nameberry or in real life… so that might not be the best.

Good luck!

What do you think of the name Azucena? Pronounced: [name]Ah[/name]-zoo-say-nah or [name]Ah[/name]-zoo-see-nah

I never see the Dutch name [name]Saskia[/name] mentioned. It’s lovely and spunky. I’m also really surprised that [name]Rosalyn[/name] and it’s variants aren’t mentioned here. It’s ripe for a comeback, with a nod to the ever-popular [name]Rose[/name] names.

This. That is why I keep my absolute favorites top secret.
