  1. Finley (9/10) - [name_u]Love[/name_u] it, especially with the nickname [name_u]Finn[/name_u]! Fresh and interesting without being trendy.

  2. Draco - This is hard for me to rate. If I’m looking at only the name, I like the sound and the meaning - I think it’s a genuinely cool name, even with the dragon connection, so I’d say about a 8/10.

However, I don’t know if I think it’s actually usable. Some names in [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] are fairly common in the real world and don’t have an automatic connection to the series ([name_m]Ron[/name_m], [name_m]Fred[/name_m], even [name_u]Harry[/name_u] himself).

Names like [name_m]Draco[/name_m] and [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], imo, are distinctly connected with the series - usually, I’d say it’s fine because these things usually fade away within ten years or so (e.g. [name_u]Twilight[/name_u], [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u], Mortal Instruments, etc.). [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] has been around since the early 90s and the fanbase doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.

In some ways, connections aren’t always bad things. [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] was a major fictional role model to a lot of young girls growing up; yes, she was judgemental, but she was also ambitious and intelligent and never took sh*t from anyone. [name_m]Draco[/name_m] doesn’t have the greatest connection. Many people believe he was misunderstood, which is fine, but ultimately to [name_u]Harry[/name_u], he was a bully who was the epitome of everything prejudiced.

I’ll wrap this up by saying this: [name_m]Draco[/name_m] is a cool name, but in terms of usability? It’s probably a no from me, at least for the next ten years or so.

  1. Alaric (6/10) - Striking name, but I really dislike the nickname [name_m]Ric[/name_m](k).

  2. Sebastian (5/10) - Overused, I grew up with at least one [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] in my class every year. I like the sound though.

  3. Theodore (4/10) - A lot of people love this name, but I’ve always found it overrated. [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is an adorable nickname though.
