I’ve seen a lot of these lately and I love seeing what other people think of different names, so I thought why not make one of my own? Please rate each name out of 10 and add comments if you have any. Be completely honest, these are just hypothetical for now.
Kennedy 6/10
[name_u]Addison[/name_u] 4/10 for personal reasons but the name itself stripped of any associations is more of a 6/10
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] 8.5/10
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] 10/10 love it
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] 7.5/10
Kennedy - 5/10 the JFK association is too much for me, feels very American too (not bad, just pointing it out as I don’t know where you’re from)
[name_u]Addison[/name_u] - 6/10 I’m not a big fan of -son names
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] - 6/10
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - 8/10 (I’d have it on my list if I could say the V letter properly)
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] - 3/10 Feels very masculine to me and the Had sound is too harsh for my taste
Kennedy- 4/10, this was one of the most common names when I was growing up so it’s bland and uninspired for me. Not bad but nothing about it sparks
[name_u]Addison[/name_u]- 4/10, similar to [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] although it was used less. I’m also just not a fan
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]- 9/10, I love [name_f]Siena[/name_f] (prefer this spelling myself, it looks sleeker and more balanced to me, but I don’t dislike [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]) so much! It’s fun and feminine but not overused
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]- 9/10, this has become too popular for me to consider but I love it for others!
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]- 7/10, I like this a lot even though it’s a bit too trendy for me personally
That’s interesting that you find [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] & [name_u]Addison[/name_u] too popular and [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] underused! I’ve never met a [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] or an [name_u]Addison[/name_u], but I think I know 3 girls called [name_f]Sienna[/name_f].
Kennedy - 8/10 I love this name, even though it’s not something that I’d personally choose. I love how strong and dignified it feels, likely because of the association to the [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] family (which I don’t find to be a bad thing!). In terms of its popularity, I’ve known maybe 2 or 3 so it doesn’t feel overused to me.
[name_u]Addison[/name_u] - 7/10 another name that I really like but personally wouldn’t use. It is a bit overused where I am from (along with [name_u]Madison[/name_u]) but far more for boys than for girls…hearing it as a girls name is refreshing! I also like the option of using the adorable nickname [name_f]Addie[/name_f].
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] - 6/10 love the association to the city but it’s a bit too frilly for my liking…I’d personally prefer [name_f]Sena[/name_f]. However, I definitely appreciate the strength and flair and overall like it.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - 3/10 this is the only name on your list that I really just can’t get behind, even though I know that it is adored on this site especially. It sounds very timid to me…I can only picture a quiet girl who loves reading wearing this name (maybe this is influenced by the “Series of Unfortunate Events” books…). At the same time, I do think my opinion could change if I met someone with the name. Ultimately, though, I also do not care for how close it sounds/looks to violent.
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] - 8/10 love this one! I think the sound is so spunky while also feeling very strong. It definitely has more weight to it (in my opinion) than [name_f]Haylie[/name_f] or [name_u]Harley[/name_u]. I also like that you could possibly pull off calling her [name_f]Addie[/name_f] as a nn! The only reason that I docked it’s rating is because of how close it is to [name_f]Haylie[/name_f], which is extremely popular where I live. I have never met a [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] though.
Hope this helps! In order, my favorites are…[name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_u]Addison[/name_u], [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
Kennedy 2
[name_u]Addison[/name_u] 2
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] 8 [name_u]Love[/name_u] this
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] 2 It just reminds me of Violent
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] 1 Nothing is wrong with it or anything, I’ve just never liked it.
Kennedy: 2/10. Sorry, but I really dislike this one. The ‘[name_m]Ken[/name_m]’ sound isn’t appealing to me and it feels a bit trendy to me. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just not my style.
[name_u]Addison[/name_u]: 4/10. I have similar feelings about this one, but it’s much better than [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] to me. Generally though, I don’t love the trend for girls of ‘son’ surnames.
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]: 6.5/10. This used to be one of my favourite names. Now I prefer the [name_f]Siena[/name_f] spelling - I’d give that a 7/10.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]: 9.5/10. [name_f]Adore[/name_f] this name!
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]: 7.5. I really like [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. It isn’t my usual style but I think because I read a book about [name_m]Ernest[/name_m] [name_m]Hemingway[/name_m]’s first wife, whose name was [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], it’s taken on a literary feel for me. It’s a name I’d consider as a middle.
Kennedy–9/10; it’s hip, it’s got a great sound, and it’s Celtic. [name_u]Winner[/name_u] all around!
[name_u]Addison[/name_u]–8/10; though it’s super popular, you can’t beat the nickname [name_f]Addie[/name_f].
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]–5/10; too 1970’s for my tastes.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]—4/10; too delicate and sounds like violent to me.
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]–8/10; literary with a lot of cool cred.
Okay honesty is what you’re gonna get! Overall your names aren’t bad but they’re very blah. They’re very mainstream and common and heard so often they don’t do anything for me personally. Individually:
Kennedy: 7/10 As a youngster I loved this name, and still appreciate it now. That being said, it is pretty common so it’s lost its charm for me. The meaning is also pretty brutal but most people outside us “namers” don’t ever know the meanings so. Still holds a spot in my namer heart
Addison: 3/10 I don’t like [name_f]Addie[/name_f], so that really reduces the likability for me. I like it actually much better for a boy. For a girl, it’s just overdone. Nothing special
Sienna: 5/10 So I find [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] very pretty sounding, I think of rustic Italian countrysides, but it’s again super mainstream that that beauty faded for me.
Violet: 4/10 This one just reminds me of the word “violent”
Hadley: 2/10 I don’t have too much to say about this one, just feels almost like someone is trying too hard to be trendy I have no idea why but that’s what it makes me think
Kennedy - 2/10. Sorry, really not a fan of this one. [name_m]Just[/name_m] reminds me of the [name_m]President[/name_m] and his family. Also is a bit too overused/trendy for me.
[name_u]Addison[/name_u] - 8/10. [name_u]Addison[/name_u] is so sweet, and I love nn [name_f]Ada[/name_f] ([name_f]Addie[/name_f] is cute too). I first heard the name in Grey’s Anatomy, and thought it was so pretty. I slightly prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] (ends in -line).
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] - 9/10. This name is beautiful! I never get tired of hearing it. It seems to be a bit popular in some places, but not where I live. I really like the sound of it.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - 10/10. One of my absolute favorite names! It’s gorgeous, sweet, spunky, all around perfect to me. It makes me smile every time I hear it. (I was so surprised when I saw people compare the name to the word ‘violent’ here on nameberry. I never wouldve made the association myself, nor have I ever heard anyone in real life make it! Only the color, flower, and some movie/book characters!)
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] - 6/10. Not my personal style, but I can see the appeal. It’s very cute!
