Hello all,

We are expecting our third child and have found out it is a girl. What do you think of these names on our list? Thanks, we really appreciate it.

[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]
[name_f]Gillian[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] “[name_f]Lily[/name_f]”

I actually love all of these names.
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]- my least favorite, but the nn Laur is cute. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]?
[name_f]Gillian[/name_f]- [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name, but prefer the spelling [name_f]Jillian[/name_f], only because I had a class with a girl named [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] and the professor ALWAYS called her gill-i-en, like gill on a fish, instead of jill-i-en.
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]- [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] “[name_f]Lily[/name_f]”- [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name as well, along with the nn [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
I think my favorite is [name_f]Gillian[/name_f]/[name_f]Jillian[/name_f], but you really can’t go wrong with any of these name choices.

[name_f]Lauren[/name_f] is about as plain as it gets to me, probably because it was so popular between the 80s and early 2000s. I have some worry that it will start to feel dated, but on the other hand, it seems to be falling out of favour so she won’t have the problem of having to tote around an initial all the time. I also don’t see anything to make fun of about it. There are a few “Laur…” names in my family and it seems to have served them well. Everyone knows how to spell it and I can’t think of anything in particular associated with it.

People are probably going to spell [name_f]Gillian[/name_f]'s name wrong a lot, unless you want it pronounced with the hard “G”. Some people probably will pronounce it that way whether you intend it or not, same with the “J” pronunciation. Aside from those issues, I think it’s a nice classic name. It was a popular thing when I was in grade school to read The Wonderful Pigs of [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] Jiggs and make sock pigs, so I associated that name with pigs for a long time, and the Jillians I knew got made fun of. Maybe they don’t do that anymore and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]'s picked up the pig torch, or maybe that’s not even a thing anymore!

I don’t like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. I think it’s a fad name that will disappear once it saturates classrooms, which it’s about to. I think if I were being born now with the name [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], I would grow to resent it. It’s probably going to end up sort of like [name_f]Rhonda[/name_f] - Specific to a generation. Maybe I’m wrong and it will last, or [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] can make friends through solidarity.

[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is a nice classic name, but it’s also very popular (as it was for a very long time excepting the last few decades). If you’re looking for a pretty and classic name, it’s a good one. It has the same feel as [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] but sounds less like jelly and more floral.

[name_f]Lauren[/name_f] - This is my least favorite of the names. It’s a little overused for me, but a lot of people see it as just classic.
[name_f]Gillian[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Jillian[/name_f], which is my second favorite. [name_f]Jill[/name_f] is a cute nick name.
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] - I like this one, it’s sporty and fresh.
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] “[name_f]Lily[/name_f]” - This is my favorite one. I like the classic nature of this name.

[name_f]Lauren[/name_f] – I like the sounds, but agree with others that it’s overused. [name_f]Laura[/name_f], [name_u]Laurence[/name_u], [name_f]Laura[/name_f] and [name_u]Laurie[/name_u] are other options that are less popular.
[name_f]Gillian[/name_f] – This one is my favorite. I can see nothing wrong with it.
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] – I’m not a fan. It feels like a stereotypical mean rich girl to me. Reminds me of [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] Fabray from Glee.
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] – It’s ok. It feels like a less substantial alternative to [name_f]Gillian[/name_f].
