Raymond nn Remy

Recently [name_u]Remy[/name_u] has reached [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] on my list, but I like long names and prefer it as a nickname only. I have gone through many full name possibilities, but nothing feels right. I just came across [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] and I kind of like it. Thoughts? Could it work?

No suggestions please.

I think it definitely works.

[name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]
[name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_u]Remington[/name_u]

I don’t think it makes sense.

I really prefer [name_u]Remington[/name_u].

[name_u]Remy[/name_u] is at the top of my list so I get your love for this name. However, I think [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] nn [name_u]Remy[/name_u] is a serious stretch. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Sorry!

I think it works well, but I pronounce [name_u]Remy[/name_u] ‘[name_u]Rey[/name_u]-mee’ (sort of), with the e as /e/ (like an é). If you pronounce [name_u]Remy[/name_u] as ‘[name_m]Rem[/name_m]-ee’ (with the e as /ε/ , as in “bet” - rhymes with [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]), then I’m not sure it works quite as well.

For what it’s worth, I definitely prefer [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] to [name_u]Remington[/name_u]. Nameberry says [name_u]Remington[/name_u] is quite popular in the USA, though, so it might be usable if you live there. Jeremy works well with the “Remmy” pronunciation.

Thank you. I don’t like any other full name and was using [name_m]Rem[/name_m]-ee. [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] was kind of the last chance for me to keep [name_u]Remy[/name_u] on my list. I will most likely drop [name_u]Remy[/name_u] instead of using any other name.

I would love to hear more thoughts!

I think it makes sense. My favorite nickname for [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] is [name_u]Ray[/name_u], but [name_u]Remy[/name_u] definitely works.

I think [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] nn [name_u]Remy[/name_u] makes total sense! I saw the connection right away. Both start with R, and the Y and M in [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] are right next to each other, though reversed. The only thing is that I think people will automatically call him [name_u]Ray[/name_u], unless you use [name_u]Remy[/name_u] all the time and [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] is only on the birth certificate. Of course, if you’re fine with him being [name_m]Raymond[/name_m]/[name_u]Ray[/name_u] at school and just calling him [name_u]Remy[/name_u] at home, that’d work too.
