I’ve never heard of that. I’ll look it up, thank you!
I love [name_f]Raya[/name_f]! I’ve always loved Rayley/Rayleigh as well, but when I asked opinions about it on a different site people absolutely bashed the name and called it mean things.
I like the idea of [name_f]Rayna[/name_f] nicknamed Raynie. Of course names are always subjective and personal but sometimes I ask myself “which one would I rather have gone through school with and be named today?” For me it’d be [name_f]Rayna[/name_f] over Raynie.
I know what you mean about Rae/Ray feeling a little overused, but I think given it’s an honor name it would absolutely still be a good choice. For some reason going from Raynie I’m thinking of [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] or [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] for you.
How that’s helpful!
Arg, too bad! I like [name_f]Raya[/name_f] too—I do think with the Disney movie people might default to “ry-uh” but on the other hand I thought the movie was pronounced “Ray-uh” until I saw the trailer!
i love the name! to offer another idea, you could name a daughter [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Rainey[/name_f] (i do prefer this spelling personally!).
I knew a Reighanne growing up, pronounced as “Ray-Anne”. You could maybe do Rayanne if the “ray” spelling is important to you, or double barrel it as Rae-Anne or Raye-Anne!
I’ve also seen Raimy, pronounced as “Ray-me” on a girl before. It has the “ray” sound and is similar to Raynie, but I don’t think it could be spelled with “ray” in it.
