For example, my best friend growing up was named [name]Caroline[/name], so the first thing that comes to mind is a short, skinny, sandy haired and freckled little girl with plenty of spunk, as well as attitude.
Could any of these fit an all American girl next door, as well as an exotic multi-ethnic woman? I need to re-name a character
I think [name]Elena[/name] could be both girl-next-door and exotic at the same time. The spelling gives it that vibe. If it were “[name]Alaina[/name]” I would think All-American, but [name]Elena[/name] feels different. It could go either way.
[name]Alexandra[/name] also works in this manner.
[name]Kate[/name], [name]Chloe[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Kaye[/name], [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] feel the least exotic.
[name]Mia[/name] and [name]Nina[/name] feel the least girl-next-door.
[name]Sophie[/name], [name]Nora[/name], and [name]Fiona[/name] I don’t feel either way.
[name]Alexandra[/name] is the first one that stands out to me, because [name]Lexie[/name] is the name of my best friend - quintessential adorkable girl-next-door, but she’s also Persian and ridiculously gorgeous. Since [name]Sasha[/name] is a nickname for [name]Alexander[/name], I think you could combine those two names to get what you’re looking for.
I know a Greek [name]Elena[/name] who is also very girl-next-door, and I think [name]Mia[/name], [name]Nina[/name], and [name]Chloe[/name] could all fit that bill. I am a [name]Sophie[/name], and I don’t consider myself exotic, but I think she and [name]Fiona[/name] could potentially work too. [name]Nora[/name] is iffy to me.
[name]Kate[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Kaye[/name], [name]Julia[/name], and [name]Elizabeth[/name] are all blonde and blue-eyed, to me, and I don’t think they’re exotic at all. An international variation, though, like [name]Catarina[/name], or a nickname like [name]Libby[/name] or [name]Bess[/name] could change that.
