Reactions to Juniper in the real world?

[name]Hi[/name] berries,
We’re expecting a little girl in February and we really do love the name [name]Juniper[/name]- I was just wondering if there are any parents of other Junipers out there who could tell me what reactions you get to the name? Or any other ideas of what opinions might be outside the nameberry community? We’re in the Uk and it’s almost unheard of here so would be a talking point. I’ve been very cautious about discussing names with people, but did mention it to my mum who loved it, even though she has quite conservative tastes these days!
Thanks berries, I really appreciate any and all replies

I don’t know any Junipers [name]IRL[/name], but I love the name and honestly think it works in the real world, especially with accessible nicknames like [name]June[/name]/[name]Juni[/name].

I don’t know any Junipers either. I really like the fact that it’s uncommon without being unheard of. It’s the kind of name that seems like it would age very well, and work on different types of people. Plus, if [name]Juniper[/name] doesn’t quite fit her, she can always go by [name]June[/name] or [name]Junie[/name].

A friend of mine had a [name]Juniper[/name] 4 months ago and everyone seemed really keen on the name. People continue to compare her big eyes to [name]Juniper[/name] berries. It is very sweet. My first impression was that it gave more solidity to [name]June[/name], which I think is fresh and hip. It also has an earthy vibe and a spunky vibe. I had never heard it before and was amazed at its (seeming) originality. Of course, in the last few months it has been popping up all over nameberry. It is cutting edge at the moment. I only wonder if it will run rampant and become very dated. Hard to know.

I would search the name on behindthename.com they should have a ratings and comments page there. Personally I think its nice but I can see it becoming sort of “fad” ish (if that makes sense) but I dont see a lot of teasing potential.

DH and I were eating Chinese food on Xmas eve and I desperately wanted to know the name of the baby one table over. Hubby said “I think they named it [name]Juniper[/name] or some hipster sh!t like that”. He’s not on nameberry (obv). [name]Baby[/name]'s name was [name]Jack[/name]. Real world it might be too out there? But that never stops a [name]Berry[/name]…

I love [name]Juniper[/name]! I’d be so excited to meet one in real life

We just named our Daughter [name]Juniper[/name] [name]Mae[/name]. We live in the US though (Northwest) so the reactions we get may be different in your location.

Most people [name]LOVE[/name] it. A few haven’t had any comment. And my cousin said it was too weird and kids would make fun of it. Ironically her 10 year old Daughter had just told me she thought the name was “cool”.

I’m not a nn type of person. But this name is so fun, we call her [name]June[/name], [name]Junie[/name], [name]June[/name] Bug. And our 4 year old Daughter came up with her own nn’s of [name]Juna[/name] and [name]Juno[/name].

We couldn’t be happier with the choice, except being a bit worried about it becoming more popular!

I have never met any Junipers in real life, but honestly, I love the name and I would say go with it. And the nicknames [name]June[/name], [name]Junie[/name], [name]Juno[/name] are so cute!

I’m really pleased with the positive responses! I know that it’s popular on nameberry and I’ve loved the name since I first heard it about 15 years ago so it doesn’t feel faddy to me at all. We had settled on [name]Juna[/name], which we still might go with but keep thinking that we’ll end up calling her juniper anyway.

Tamtam, I remember seeing [name]Juniper[/name] [name]Mae[/name]'s birth announcement on the message boards, its such a lovely combination, I love it! So pleased that everyone else loves her name too!
