I love the name! I really prefer the second spelling/pronunciation.
Personally - I would say [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] “[name_f]Ree[/name_f]-gan” and [name_u]Regan[/name_u] and “[name_u]Ray[/name_u]-gan”. I just like the sound of the second better
I like [name_u]Regan[/name_u] a lot! I would opt for [name_u]Regan[/name_u] personally, because [name_u]Regan[/name_u] = [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] while [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] = the president. I come from a very staunchly Republican family, and am not anti-Republican, so it’s not like I dislike [name_m]Ronald[/name_m] [name_u]Reagan[/name_u], but I definitely prefer a tie to [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] to the president. I remember hearing once that [name_u]Regan[/name_u] was [name_f]REE[/name_f]-gan, although I’m not sure where? So that’s how I’ve said it for the past couple years, bu I can see [name_u]RAY[/name_u]-gan, too. The president is said [name_u]RAY[/name_u]-gan, so that’s how I say [name_u]Reagan[/name_u]. [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] I see as more unisex/masculine, while [name_u]Regan[/name_u] (to my knowledge?) is fully feminine, which is another bonus point for me.
I don’t know–[name_u]Reagan[/name_u] has always seemed semi-trendy (although, more for about 10 years ago) to me, so I have always hesitated with it, but [name_u]Regan[/name_u] seems all timeless and awesome [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m], so I could definitely get behind meeting a little [name_u]Regan[/name_u]! I think it’s a lovely name.
To me [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] is [name_u]Ray[/name_u]-gan, [name_u]Regan[/name_u] is [name_f]Ree[/name_f]-gan… I like [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] better in sound and visually.
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u] makes the most sense to me. [name_u]Regan[/name_u] I would pronounce like reg (like peg) and in. [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] is the most familiar because of the president and would most likely be spelled that way.
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u] looks more complete to me.
[name_u]Regan[/name_u]! Definitely!
[name_u]Regan[/name_u] is from [name_m]King[/name_m] Lear by [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] (although she is one of the ungrateful daughters, so that may be an uncomfortable association!) In the play it is pronounced “[name_f]REE[/name_f]-gan”.
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u] is made famous by the President, and would probably get most people pronouncing it as he did, which was [name_u]RAY[/name_u]-gan.
I would use your family spelling.
