I’ve recently fallen for [name]Millicent[/name] with the nn [name]Millie[/name]. I think [name]Millie[/name] is a such a sweet sounding name. Not weird, yet not overly-common right now. I feel like it’s on-trend with names like [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Ella[/name], [name]Molly[/name], etc - but still stands out.
What are your thoughts on [name]Millie[/name]? What kind of person do you imagine when you think of a [name]Millie[/name]?
BTW - our current combo is [name]Millicent[/name] [name]Marcy[/name]. ([name]Marcy[/name] honors my BFF [name]Martha[/name].)
Oh goodness- I [name]LOVE[/name] your combo of [name]Millicent[/name] [name]Marcy[/name]. I’m a huge fan of the name [name]Millie[/name]! I’m considering [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Alice[/name] nn [name]Millie[/name] for a daughter. It’s short and sweet, and one of my favorite vintage nicknames. I also am a huge fan of the musical so it adds to the appeal. It’d be refreshing to meet a [name]Millie[/name]!
I’d imagine a [name]Millie[/name] to be sweet and old fashioned, but spunky, charming, and not afraid to speak her mind.
[name]Millie[/name] is a terrific nickname and I like the full name of [name]Amelia[/name] which I think is a perfectly charming name and with lots of nickname options too.
Thanks guys! I think [name]Millie[/name] is a refreshing name as well. Also susan.n, I really like your choice of [name]Emilia[/name]. I recently met an [name]Emilia[/name], and for some reason I like that spelling a lot better than [name]Amelia[/name]. [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Alice[/name] is very beautiful, and nn [name]Millie[/name] is precious!
As a fan of the short lived show Freaks and Geeks, I picture a [name]Millie[/name] to be like the one on the show, bookish, mathlete (sp?), church camp, hall monitor, everything good girl no nonsense you can imagine. As for looks I imagine that too hair parted down the middle thin waif like, braces, glasses.
I’m not sure why because historically speaking there are some real significant Millies but the character [name]Millicent[/name] nn [name]Millie[/name] Kentner is all I can ever think of.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Millicent[/name] AND [name]Millie[/name]! I think [name]Millie[/name] could work as a nn for [name]Magnolia[/name] too. [name]Mildred[/name] isn’t my cup of tea at all, unfortunately.
I’m not an enormous fan of [name]Millicent[/name] tho I don’t mind it and it is growing on me but I just love [name]Millie[/name]! It is such a sweet, pretty, fantastic name!
It’s fairly high up my list but I’m sort of afraid of using a “nn” name and not having a more formal name for her to go by. I’d hate for her to get a bunch of questions about “Oh what is Millie short for?” but I do absolutely love it!
Yes! [name]Millicent[/name]! So mellifluous… There is a great children’s book called [name]Millicent[/name] Maybe- about an alligator who can’t make up her mind. Your future daughter will love it. [name]Millicent[/name] is so sweet, but the “cent” gives it dignity, like [name]Vincent[/name]. And it’s got a great bubbly rhythm. I’m biased on [name]Marcy[/name] because I knew a mean girl named [name]Marcy[/name]. We used to call her Marzipanhead. We were seven.
I love [name]Millie[/name]! I had a great grandma named [name]Mildred[/name], but we called her Grandma [name]Millie[/name]…she’d make the best cookies and had the best house…nothing but feast memories. I think [name]Millie[/name] is a sweet nn and ages well. While I love [name]Millie[/name], [name]Mildred[/name] is not my style I think your choice of [name]Millicent[/name] has a better sound to it.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Mildred[/name]! Had a sweet family friend named mildred so I have a wonderful association with it and think its a lovely and very usable name!
I adore both [name]Millicent[/name] & [name]Millie[/name]! I think [name]Millie[/name] could work as a nickname for [name]Amelia[/name]/[name]Emilia[/name] but I much prefer the second spelling. I suggested [name]Millicent[/name] with DD 2 & husband veoted it before I could finish! [name]Emilia[/name] is definiltey a name on my list, has been for years as has [name]Millicent[/name] all though I will never be able to use it. [name]Will[/name] have to ask hubby again & try convince him & ask for opinions on [name]Emilia[/name]! If you love it then definitley go for it. They are both beautiful names & you can use [name]Millie[/name] as a nickname for either. As for [name]Millie[/name] I adore it on its own as well though it may be a bit babyish for an lady. I find [name]Mildred[/name] really awful & dated, sorry. Its just not my cup of tea!
I like [name]Millicent[/name] and [name]Milly[/name]. [name]Marcy[/name] is okay, but [name]Millicent[/name] [name]Marcy[/name] is a bit much. What about [name]Millicent[/name] [name]May[/name] or [name]Mae[/name] instead? I think it works better in terms of flow. I don’t really like [name]Mildred[/name]-- too much like mildew. What about [name]Romilly[/name] nn [name]Milly[/name]/[name]Millie[/name]? Or [name]Matilda[/name] or [name]Ottilie[/name] nn [name]Tilly[/name]/[name]Tillie[/name]?
I love [name]Millie[/name]. It has the old-fashioned charm [name]Maggie[/name] used to have. I think a [name]Millie[/name] could be any child. She could be wearing an vintage print sundress and have a tumble of curls and a few freckles. She could be the slightly reserved, faintly elegant president of the honor society. She could be captain of the swim team with a leggy, svelte form and a vaguely 20s style. She could be Everygirl in blue jeans and a white tee shirt or the most sophisticated date for the prom in blue velvet.
I like [name]Millicent[/name] best, but if you like [name]Emilia[/name] more, that is good, too. I just think [name]Millicent[/name] is bit more distinctive and individualistic, while [name]Emilia[/name], though darling, is so close to so many popular names.
I like [name]Millicent[/name] with the nickname [name]Millie[/name]. It is such a cute nickname, too bad my husband doesn’t like the name at all. I prefer [name]Millicent[/name] to [name]Mildred[/name], but both are nice.
[name]Amelia[/name]/[name]Emilia[/name] is a cute name but I like [name]Amelia[/name] more. That is becoming more trendy and some don’t like it for that reason. I still like the name though, probably because of [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Earhart[/name].
[name]Love[/name] [name]Millie[/name]. I like [name]Emilia[/name] (nn [name]Millie[/name]). I also love [name]Millicent[/name], and more recently [name]Mildred[/name] has had a big appeal. It’s clunky, but maybe that’s why I like it? I picture a [name]Millie[/name] being very bubbly and sweet - the type of girl and woman who always has a smile on her face and is always ready for a laugh.
