Really loving Serena

I just am really loving [name]Serena[/name]. [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] … I am just a bit torn, as I know [name]Serena[/name] is quite different than [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Anna[/name] or [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Susannah[/name], but I do believe it is an old, classic name… and I really love the family connection (It was my great, great grandmother’s name… so it has to be old, lol!). [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] would fit with [name]Maggie[/name], [name]Jonah[/name], [name]Kelsey[/name]-[name]Rose[/name], [name]Emma[/name], [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Levi[/name], [name]Isaiah[/name], [name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Claire[/name] and [name]Sarah[/name] Katheirne??? Our last name ends in the “[name]Ah[/name]” sound so, I think [name]Serena[/name] sounds so pretty with our last name… Also, I was thinking of a few other middle name suggestions, wondering opinions???
[name]Serena[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Serena[/name] [name]Anne[/name]
[name]Serena[/name] [name]Hope[/name]

I absolutely love [name]Serena[/name] with your other children! It just seems to fit so perfectly. I love that it honors your grandma, too. I like [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] the best, but [name]Serena[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Joy[/name] is very pretty, too. Have you given up on [name]Beatrix[/name], then? I also like the idea of [name]Serena[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]/[name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]/[name]Serena[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Joy[/name]… although I think [name]Beatrix[/name] means “she who brings joy” or something, so [name]Beatrix[/name] and [name]Joy[/name] might be a bit repetitive together…

Thanks, [name]Ash[/name]! Well, hubby isn’t fond of [name]Beatrix[/name] in the mix with [name]Serena[/name] (I already suggested it) but you are right, it means the same thing (just about) as “[name]Joy[/name]” so… [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] would work. I also conisidered [name]Serena[/name] [name]Jane[/name], but I don’t think it feels quite right…
I am surprised that it seems [name]Serena[/name] is just one of those names, of different people I have asked… some absolutlely love it, some loathe it, kind of like the situation with [name]Susannah[/name], LOL!

[name]Ash[/name]- looking at your names, made me think of [name]Isabelle[/name] (I have always loved [name]Isabelle[/name]/[name]Isabella[/name]). [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Joy[/name]. Now, I must say, I think that is pretty  I also [name]LOVE[/name], [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Serena[/name] [name]Grace[/name]!! But have already used [name]Grace[/name] in [name]Emma[/name]'s name. Her full name is [name]Emma[/name] [name]Addison[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. We don’t use [name]Grace[/name] much with her name, and [name]Emma[/name] said she was fine with us using it for the new baby, but I am just not sure how I feel about it. What are your thoughts?

I think all your combinations sound nice, but I like [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] or [name]Serena[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Joy[/name] the best. [name]Serena[/name] is a bit different stylistically from your other kids’ names, but I don’t think that matters too much.

Aww, well, I like [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Joy[/name], if only because I absolutely adore [name]Isabelle[/name]! I think [name]Grace[/name] is lovely but I personally wouldn’t reuse it… would your other girls (or other children, for that matter?) feel left out because they didn’t get to have the same MN as their baby sister? I know a family that has 3 girls, all with the same MN ([name]Megan[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Nicole[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Emma[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]), and I always thought that was a little weird, but okay since they all got the same MN. And my uncle and his brother share both their names (my uncle is [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Ashley[/name], his brother is [name]Ashley[/name] [name]Bruce[/name], lol), and I think that’s even weirder. I suppose it could be done, but I would give this little baby her own name, you know? I think it’s nice for each child to have their separate, personal identity.

Personally, though, I like [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name]. haha. But maybe [name]Isabelle[/name] is too rampant for you? Since it ranks 105 nationally the popularity couldn’t bother me less, but I know that it bothers a lot of people since it’s only a letter away from [name]Isabella[/name]…

You are lucky, lucky, lucky that your hubs loves [name]Serena[/name]. Can he talk to mine? ha! I love [name]Serena[/name] too and think it works really well with your others. I like your combos, I think [name]Serena[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Joy[/name] has a nice ring to it. I posted about [name]Serena[/name] once, and someone suggested [name]Serena[/name] [name]Lark[/name], which I thought was lovely and fresh.

Well, I don’t think I could use [name]Isabelle[/name] in the first name spot… when we lived in [name]Kenya[/name], and adopted our two precious boys we were in the process of adopting a baby girl whom we named [name]Isabella[/name] [name]Faith[/name] (I adored her name, and loved her to pieces) she was in our home for months, then her bio mom resurfaced, and decided she wanted to try to fight for her. It was a long two moths but resulted that [name]Isabella[/name] had to be returned to the orphanage (I get updates on her and am so thankful to say that she is in a good foster home right now). I to this day hurt for that child. So, I really don’t think I would feel comfortable putting that in the first name spot, KWIM? but MN spot, I think would be fine. It is such a beautiful name, and I adore the meaning!!

I like the name [name]Serena[/name] a lot! And I think it is sufficiently classic to go with your other names.

This should not necessarily be a dealbreaker for you, but in the novel The Handmaid’s Tale by [name]Margaret[/name] Atwood there is a character called [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] who is pretty horrifying. The book is famous enough that when you google “[name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name],” most of the top hits are about this character. Like I said, it doesn’t have to stop you, but I thought you might want to know. I think [name]Serena[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Joy[/name] presents no problems, though.

[name]Danielle[/name],

I’m sorry to hear about sweet [name]Isabella[/name] [name]Faith[/name]! I can’t wait until I’m an adoptive mommy myself, and something like that would be my absolute worst nightmare. :frowning: If that happened to me, I’m not sure I could even use [name]Isabelle[/name] as a MN! But if you’re okay with it, I think [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Joy[/name] is a lovely combo. I love [name]Isabelle[/name]'s meaning, “My God is a vow,” too. It embodies everything I feel about and have come to know about who God is and how He loves.

Thank you [name]Ash[/name]. It really was my worst nightmare, but God was so faithful to us. It is something I will never understand, but he had different plans. Had [name]Isabella[/name]'s adoption not fell through we wouldn’t have our [name]Levi[/name]. Since loosing our sweet [name]Isabella[/name] we have had two other girls ([name]Sophie[/name] and [name]Sarah[/name]), this will be our third  We truly serve and Awesome God!!

[name]Boston[/name]- Wow! I had no idea about that book, or the character, thank you for the heads up… that is a little putting off to me!!

Oh, and yes, [name]Ash[/name]- I get what you mean completely about reusing names, that is why I am hesitant to do it

[name]Danielle[/name] I just read about your [name]Kenyan[/name] baby girl - that must have been heart wrenching. I think that using [name]Isabel[/name] in the middle name spot is a nod to honour both her and your grandmother too, and I am sure your lovely daughter [name]Serena[/name] will appreciate the connection as well as the meaning. (I am glad to hear that your [name]Kenyan[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] is in a good home as that would make your heart rest easy.)

rollo

PS Danielle your nameberry mailbox is full.

I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Serena[/name]!!! It’s so pretty, classic, and uncommon. I agree with the PP - [name]Isabel[/name]/[name]Isabelle[/name] might be a nice way to keep that connection. I understand if it’s too difficult though. [name]Serena[/name] is on my list for the future and my top middle name is [name]Nicole[/name]. It has meaning to me but I thought I’d throw it out there as something I think sounds nice with it
