DH & I are due with a baby boy in early [name]May[/name]. [name]Ever[/name] since DH & I met, got married, etc I knew if we ever had a son that I would be having this anxiety. [name]Long[/name] story short, DS’ first name has to be [name]Robert[/name], his middle name is up to us and is ultimately the name he will go by. [name]Robert[/name] is a family name for DH and is a no discussion thing. I really do not like the name at all, but I am fine with DS going by his middle name (that is what DH does), which is my decision.
Anyways, we had a list of middle names for DS, but I honestly can’t say I [name]LOVE[/name] any of them. I have run out of inspiration and feel like I am missing out on bonding with my baby boy because I just call him baby boy or son or something like that. I just really want him to have a name before he breathes his first real breath.
[name]Do[/name] you girls have any nice suggestions for a name that sounds good with [name]Robert[/name] (last name is part of my username)? I like classic names, but I am finding that those are kind of boring because most of the names DH & I have been talking about are the classics. Am open to any suggestions because I am really starting to worry that I will never love my son’s name and will always be a bit sad that his first name has to be stupid [name]Robert[/name] (sorry if you love that name).
Does [name]Robert[/name] improve for you at all with the nickname [name]Hob[/name]/Hobbie? I never liked [name]Robert[/name] myself, but then I heard a song by The Unthanks called ‘Canny Hobbie [name]Elliot[/name]’ and I had an epiphany realising that Hobbie is a nickname for [name]Robert[/name] by way of vintage [name]Hob[/name]. It also reminded me of The Sandman graphic novels by [name]Neil[/name] Gaiman where [name]Dream[/name] (Sandman) has only one human friend and his name is [name]Hob[/name]. Suddenly (for me) [name]Robert[/name] seems very viable ^^ Or you could use [name]Bertie[/name]… [name]Bertie[/name] is so very sweet!
For middles I suggest a name with one or three syllables, for best flow with your surname:
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Alasdair[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Augustin[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Clive[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Ezekiel[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Fox[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Hadrian[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Ignatius[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Orion[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Valentin[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Jude[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Lazarus[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Solomon[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Alaric[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Miles[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Reid[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Sage[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Dominic[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Julius[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Hugh[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Alasdair[/name] is my favourite ^^
My favorites would be [name]Samuel[/name], [name]August[/name], and [name]Theodore[/name]. Heck, they’re all great names. And classic, but not over the top common. I hope you won’t stress too much about not having a name for your son yet. I know how you feel because we weren’t able to choose anything until after he was born and we met him and realized what his name should be. (I know that sounds kind of hippy-ish, but trust me, we are so not. Our style trends toward the classics, like yours.) But nothing seemed right until we met him. And now his name is perfect and the bond is stronger than ever. So don’t stress about that. You will absolutely have a bond with your baby even if you wait to choose his name until after he’s born. After all, you want to choose the right one, right? [name]Don[/name]'t rush yourself.
