Thanks for all the feedback on here! We actually have changed our list so please make sure you take a peak at our updated list since that those are our final names (https://nameberry.com/nametalk/thread…-Final-Five)
So rather than getting rid of any, we’ve actually added to our girl list!! Thoughts on the names? Which do you like best? Middle names aren’t set in stone but we’re almost positive we’re using [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] since they are family names. Thank you!
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]
[name_f]Suvi[/name_f] (still concerned about “SUV” but we just think it’s so cute sounding)
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Veda[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_f]Nola[/name_f]
[name_f]Selah[/name_f]
[name_f]Tulla[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Priya[/name_f]
Also, thank you to jerinnyx for suggesting [name_u]Arden[/name_u] on my last thread, we’ve decided that is the name we’re using if we have a boy!!
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] - very pretty with a lovely meaning but gaining popularity
[name_f]Suvi[/name_f] - Nope. Reminds me of [name_f]Suri[/name_f] [name_f]Cruise[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f] - pretty but NMS
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] - lovely Scandi familiar.
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] - beautiful. [name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] sounds great.
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] - same as [name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] - [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] sounds lovely. Probably my favourite
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f] - nice name bit doesn’t seem to go with [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] - same as [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] - sounds old-ladyish to me
[name_f]Veda[/name_f] - growing on me. [name_f]Veda[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] is nice
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] - pretty, but not beautiful
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] - [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] is lovely
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] - Nope. [name_m]Just[/name_m] don’t like it
[name_f]Selah[/name_f] - same as [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Tulla[/name_f] - Nope. Sounds too nicknamey
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] - same as [name_f]Nola[/name_f].
[name_f]Priya[/name_f] - beautiful [name_f]Indian[/name_f] name! I like [name_f]Priya[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
You have some lovely names. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helped
My top five would be:
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] - sweet and fairy like
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f] - a bit exotic but pretty
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] - fun and sweet
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] - slightly English sounding and more refined
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] - really sweet sounding, I love the name [name_f]Nola[/name_f], you could also use it as a nickname for the name magnolia.
*while I loved your A names, I eliminated them to avoid repetitive initials, though, I don’t know if that’s important to you.
Thank you! I guess exotic would kind of describe what I was looking for, originally. When I first posted, I was looking for names that were similar in style to [name_f]India[/name_f] (my niece’s name). What exactly do you mean by repetitive initials? If you’re referring to [name_u]Arden[/name_u], it wouldn’t be an issue since we don’t have a child named [name_u]Arden[/name_u], it is just the boy name we have decided on since we do not know the sex of our baby
I think [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] had the best flow, Personally I’m not a fan of the name [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] but [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is cute as!
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] are very lovely names too!
All the luck to you
My favorites are [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f], and [name_f]Aria[/name_f], and my very favorite is probably [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. But I don’t really like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] with either of your two middle names. So, I think [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are the prettiest
Oh, glad you liked some of my suggestions from the other thread! Obviously I like all those, even if they’re not names I’d use myself
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]- spunky, dramatic, flashy. I think of an aria in an opera- an especially nice choice if you and/or your husband is into music
[name_f]Suvi[/name_f]- It’s fun and quirky, unique but easy to spell and pronounce. I don’t think of SUVs at all.
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]- I love the [name_f]East[/name_f]-meets-[name_u]West[/name_u] feel of this name- at once exotic and Arabian, classy and polished, and down-to-earth. I think of [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m], one of my favourite royals and riders.
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]- feisty and fun, familiar to English-speaking ears but rarely heard, and with tons of Scandinavian flair
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]- a bit frilly, a bit tailored and prim. I love the character [name_f]Celia[/name_f] in As You Like It, a more clever girl than most give her credit for!
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]- dramatic and eye-catching, I could imagine a heroine in a historical romance novel or play with this name
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]- she gives off a wintry, “calm, cool, and collected” feel to me. And what girl wouldn’t want to share her name with a goddess?
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]- I imagine a really active, energetic, and playful girl. Again, familiar to English speakers but still gives off a European vibe
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]- mythical and magical, it has unique sounds (as in, it isn’t similar sound-wise to many other names)
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]- a modern-sounding nature name that’s easy to wear
[name_f]Veda[/name_f]- would you be saying this “vee-dah” or “vay-dah”? I like the sound, and it’s definitely rarely heard, but seems a bit nicknamey to me
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]- prim and proper, feels so quintessentially British to me
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]- another mysterious, dramatic, ice-queen-in-a-story kind of name
[name_f]Nola[/name_f]- this sounds a bit harsh to me, sorry. and nicknamey- what about [name_f]Finola[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nola[/name_f]?
[name_f]Selah[/name_f]- prefer [name_f]Celia[/name_f], but it’s pretty and easy to wear too
[name_f]Tulla[/name_f]- this reminds me of tulips and the Tuileries. Nice sound though, sleek and simple.
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]- this name gives me a calm, peaceful, quiet feeling because of its similarity to [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and a girl I used to know named [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Willa[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Priya[/name_f]- can’t see this on someone not [name_f]Indian[/name_f]/South [name_f]Asian[/name_f], sorry
My boyfriend and I both pronounced [name_f]Veda[/name_f] as “vay-dah”. We don’t really want to use a full name with a planned nickname, we actually kind of like the “nickname as a name” feel (if that makes sense!)
I really love most of these (other than [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]), but [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_f]Selah[/name_f] are my top two all time favorite girl names, so I have to go with those!
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]- Beautiful, but becoming popular
[name_f]Suvi[/name_f]- Not a fan of this one. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Suri[/name_f]?
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]- Cute!
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]- Not a fan. The first syllable makes me not like this name
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]- Gorgeous! [name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is beautiful.
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]- I love this one, but there may be pronunciation issues
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]- This one is growing on me. [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would sound cute with this name
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]- I don’t see the appeal of this one other than the meaning “dove”
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]- Too close to “frisbee” to me
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]- Too old ladyish
[name_f]Veda[/name_f]- See [name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]- [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like this one
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]- [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like this one
[name_f]Nola[/name_f]- I prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Selah[/name_f]- Cute, but may come with pronunciation issues.
[name_f]Tulla[/name_f]- Too nicknamey
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]- [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is very pretty
[name_f]Priya[/name_f]- See [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is definitely my favorite. Good luck!
We don’t really like [name_f]Suri[/name_f], sorry! We’re pretty set on this list and we’d rather not change/add names at this time. We do have a few we plan on eliminating though!
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]- Gorgeous name!
[name_f]Suvi[/name_f]- I’m not keen on this one at all
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]- [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would be beautiful
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]- I really like [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]- I like it, but I much prefer it as a nickname for [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]- [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] would be lovely
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]- It’s quite pretty
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]- It’s alright
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]- I’m not at all keen on this, I agree that it sounds too much like frizbee
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]- I love [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Veda[/name_f]- Really pretty, would sound great with either [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]- I love [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]!
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]- I love [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] too!
[name_f]Nola[/name_f]- I prefer [name_f]Norah[/name_f] but it’s quite pretty
[name_f]Selah[/name_f]- I like this one
[name_f]Tulla[/name_f]- Not my style at all
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]- See [name_f]Tulla[/name_f]
[name_f]Priya[/name_f]- Quite pretty but not my style
Overall, I would personally go with [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Veda[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]. Good luck!
[name_f]Love[/name_f]:
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] - especially as a nickname for [name_f]Finola[/name_f]
[name_f]Selah[/name_f]
Everything else is just okay for me. I quite like [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] or [name_f]Finola[/name_f] “[name_f]Nola[/name_f]” [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]!
Thanks, we have actually gotten the names down to our official five; I forgot to update this one! We don’t like nicknames so we wouldn’t use [name_f]Finola[/name_f].
