Sorry to post again- might only have 3 weeks left to figure out a middle name, if this baby is as early as his/her siblings all were…
We (or rather I. My husband could not care less about middle names) can’t seem to find any middle names that we like for [name]Finola[/name].
The criteria are basically…
I’d like something which adds something different to [name]Finola[/name]; a different tone. Because I see [name]Finola[/name] as quite a feisty name, maybe something to soften it a little?
Something fun. I’d like to give her a middle name that a little girl, or a teenage girl, could enjoy having!
Flow is very important to me. I think this is something I’m struggling with with [name]Finola[/name]- finding the middle name that flows
I also like pp ideas of [name]Finola[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name]
& [name]Finola[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] ([name]Finola[/name] [name]Bea[/name] is super cute too, but [name]Bea[/name] sounds like a nn for [name]Beatrice[/name])
I also like [name]Finola[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]. But the first name the popped into my head when I read your post was [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Finola[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]. I like it a lot.
I too thought of [name]Maeve[/name] as a middle name, but I’ve got the name on my brain tonight. I just suggested [name]Maeve[/name] as a first in an Irish sibset. I do honestly feel it would soften [name]Finola[/name] while maintaining a stunning flow.
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Greer[/name] was the first thing that popped into my mind and I see that someone already suggested that! I also like
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Faye[/name]
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Olive[/name]
Thanks so much for all the responses. I liked a ton of your suggestions.
First, here are a few which I really like but couldn’t use for various reasons:
[name]Finola[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Juniper[/name]- My eldest daughter’s middle name is [name]Juno[/name], so these twoare just too close, sadly
[name]Finola[/name] Saro- I think this might also be too close to [name]Juno[/name], which is a shame because I love it, and have never heard of Saro before!
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]- I like the flow of these, but I am a little ambivalent about using two so obviously Celtic names together, when none of the rest of my children have Celtic names. I feel that it segregates her a little, from the rest of them… but I do love these as a pair
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Willow[/name] (I did actually think of this pairing at one point, and I’m being tempted back to it)
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]- This one was on my list, so double encouragement that its been suggested again
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Wren[/name]- Really like this, my only concern being that [name]Wren[/name] is quite trendy as a middle name. Is this unfounded?
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Delphine[/name]
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Delta[/name]- Usually not a fan of repeated endings, but I like this a lot
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Bea[/name]- I love the sound of this!
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Carmen[/name]- Unexpected but I really like this
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Mabel[/name]- [name]Mabel[/name] is one of my favourite names, and I was unsure if these worked together. Might try this one out aloud a little more
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Robin[/name]- I like the chirpiness of this one
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Faye[/name]
Have a list I’m much more enthusiastic about now.
If anyone has any opinions on the names above I’d love to hear it, and I guess now I’ll just whittle down which one of these its gonna be.
Thank you
Okay, my husband loved:
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Faye[/name]
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Bea[/name] (clearly likes the one syllable choices)
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Robin[/name]
and I love, with him less excited by…
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Mabel[/name]
He really dislikes [name]Delphine[/name] so I think that one’s out. Apparently [name]Willow[/name] just makes him think too much of ‘whip my hair’ (he works in radio and has to hear a lot of the trending music tracks, often the really awful catchy ones)
Of the four DH likes, [name]Finola[/name] [name]Faye[/name] and [name]Finola[/name] [name]Bea[/name] attract me most.
Any opinions/dislikes/likes out of the list here? With reasons why, if poss!
I adore [name]Finola[/name] [name]Wren[/name] and [name]Finola[/name] [name]Faye[/name]! [name]Both[/name] are absolutely adorable. [name]Wren[/name] is not common as a middle name, Nameberry can give some distorted views of name norms, [name]IMO[/name]. [name]Wren[/name] would be quite distinguished in everyday life. [name]Faye[/name], on the other hand, definitely has the softness you were after, as well as flow.
leonielee…thanks for the perspective. We’re flitting between four combinations really now ([name]Faye[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]Bea[/name], [name]Ruth[/name]) but its good to know that [name]Faye[/name] has the same softness in your mind as it does in mine; and that [name]Wren[/name] isn’t the next [name]Rose[/name] as far as middle names go.
[name]Finola[/name] Miette
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Vianne[/name]
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (beautiful filler middle name which may soften [name]Finola[/name] a bit)
[name]Finola[/name] [name]Beatriz[/name]
