Ok I think I really have it narrowed down to two this time. I love both but have some reservations about each and want to know what you guys think!
[name]Caroline[/name]- [name]Love[/name] how classy and elegant it is. Not super popular where I live (ranked in the high 80s which is fine for us) and love that is sounds great on a baby, child, and adult. Main problem is that it doesn’t sound that great with our last name (pronounced like [name]Winn[/name]) and that is it my best friend’s name. I’ve already told her we are considering it and she was very flattered and said she had no problem with it but still worried it may be a little weird.
[name]Penelope[/name]- [name]Love[/name] the spunk and sound of the name. Sounds really fantastic with our one syllable last name and has lots of great nicknames which [name]Caroline[/name] doesn’t have. The negative thing is that I am worried about it’s rising popularity and about its trendiness.
So what do you think? Our son is [name]Leo[/name] so keep that in mind when choosing !
I love them both! I don’t think you should be concerned about [name]Penelope[/name]'s popularity. It’s not as popular as [name]Caroline[/name] is, and I doubt it will be anytime soon.
I like [name]Caroline[/name] a bit more just as a first name, but you’re right that [name]Penelope[/name] flows better with your last name. I honestly don’t think you could go wrong either way. I’d probably go for [name]Caroline[/name] (don’t worry about the friend thing, your daughter will probably think it’s so cool that she and mommy’s friend have the same name!) in the end. It’s just more my style, and I agree that it sounds great on a baby, child, and adult.
[name]Caroline[/name] gets my vote. It is a classic and will never be dated. Although, [name]Penelope[/name] is spunky, I prefer how classy and pretty [name]Caroline[/name] is.
Ultimately, [name]Penelope[/name] loses its luster for me because it is linked to the Kardashians and it feels trendy.
I actually know a [name]Caroline[/name] “win” Ng—, lol. I think it sounds fine.
[name]Penelope[/name] is definitely more fun and spunky. I wouldn’t worry about popularity, it’s too unusual to become really common. Yet it’s too old to be considered “trendy” in my opinion.
I like both. [name]Truly[/name]. Let me think… with [name]Leo[/name], I guess [name]Caroline[/name] has a slight edge. [name]Penelope[/name] is pretty but has a slightly more trendy vibe and I like the classic elegance of [name]Caroline[/name] (with a bit of southern charm!)
So torn on this one! My name is [name]Caroline[/name] and I adore it, but [name]Penelope[/name] is one of my own favorites…I’ll just give you my pros and cons because I honestly cannot choose.
[name]Caroline[/name]: I love that its popularity (thus far) is fairly consistent…top 200, but well below 50. I never knew another [name]Caroline[/name] growing up. I think it ages beautifully and is just so classic. Downside: I’ve always gone by my full name and never really settled on a nickname I like.
[name]Penelope[/name]: I love the rhythm of [name]Penelope[/name] and I love(d?) that it was familiar but not widely used. I love the nickname options of [name]Penny[/name], [name]Lola[/name], [name]Nell[/name]… Downside: She is on the way up in popularity (even before [name]Kourtney[/name]). I doubt [name]Penelope[/name] is destined for the top 10, but the popularity is more volatile than [name]Caroline[/name].
I like [name]Caroline[/name] I think it’s beautiful. I’d prefer [name]Carolina[/name], or maybe [name]Coraline[/name], just to shake things up a bit since [name]Caroline[/name] is rather popular. [name]Penelope[/name] is cute, but I’ve always found that name a bit strange. But in the end, it is up to you!! Congrats!
I may be on my own here, but I see no problem with [name]Caroline[/name] “[name]Winn[/name]”. I really prefer [name]Caroline[/name] just because I am a huge fan of elegant classics. I would have used [name]Caroline[/name] myself but my last name ends in -ine so it just wasn’t a good fit. [name]Caroline[/name] all the way!
Of the two names, I’d go with [name]Caroline[/name] in spite of the flow issue with [name]Winn[/name] (which I agree with you is not ideal). As a solution, I [name]LOVE[/name] rileymc1234’s idea of [name]Carolina[/name]. [name]Carolina[/name] [name]Winn[/name] sounds simply fabulous! [name]Carolina[/name] is less common than [name]Caroline[/name], but holds up as so elegant and classy.
I love [name]Caroline[/name] (my sister’s name), but I agree that [name]Penelope[/name] sounds better with your last name. I think any of the mns you have work well-- all classic names. My only slight issue is that both [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] are much longer than [name]Leo[/name] (I’m assuming [name]Leo[/name] isn’t a nn)-- I’d like to suggest that a little shorter name might work better in terms of the sibset. A few possibilities:
[name]Leo[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] [name]Winn[/name]
[name]Leo[/name] and [name]Claire[/name] [name]Winn[/name]
[name]Leo[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] [name]Winn[/name]
[name]Leo[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] [name]Winn[/name]
[name]Leo[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Winn[/name]
[name]Leo[/name] and [name]Esme[/name] [name]Winn[/name]
[name]Leo[/name] and [name]Julia[/name] [name]Winn[/name]
[name]Leo[/name] and [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Winn[/name]
[name]Leo[/name] and [name]Thais[/name] [name]Winn[/name]
I think [name]Caroline[/name] “[name]Winn[/name]” sounds great! I recognize the ends match but with the 3-1 rhythm I think it balances it out - and [name]Caroline[/name] is such a lovely classic. I like the rhythm of [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] better than [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Margaret[/name], although [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] is lovely. I could really get behind [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Margot[/name]!
I understand the appeal of [name]Penelope[/name] generally and for your last name but I do like [name]Caroline[/name] more.
I like [name]Caroline[/name] best with [name]Leo[/name], something about the look of [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] together is off-putting for me (too many of the same letters, maybe).
I agree with the poster above that I don’t hear a problem with [name]Caroline[/name]"[name]Winn[/name]". I love [name]Caroline[/name] and would have loved to use it, but my husband is not a fan. I much prefer it over [name]Penelope[/name] because it feels more timeless. However you can’t go wrong with either choice. Good luck.
[name]Caroline[/name]. Classy, underused, sedate, sweet and elegant.
I think [name]Penelope[/name] has a rather ugly sound, and that people are going to look back at the spike of ‘Penelopes’ around now and wonder what we were all thinking. But that’s just me.
