As most of you know we have decided on [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]. It has wonderful meaning, and I have a special connection to it through the Bible. Last night I was at church… there was a lady visiting her mother from out of town, and she had a baby girl. Her name was [name]Eleanor[/name]. All night, all I could do was think how beautiful that name was, and wondering to myself… have I made the right choice??? All this, while knowing that most likely it’s just my name obsession issue… So in hopes to be reassured, I asked hubby in the car (whom was the main one behind [name]Olivia[/name])… I say, I love the name [name]Eleanor[/name], what do you think? and he says “you know, I think it is really beautiful, maybe we should call her that”…
We did think of [name]Eleanor[/name], and I believe I mentioned it in one of my posts… Ladies, what are your thoughts??? [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]???
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name].
[name]Olivia[/name] or [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] is beautiful but it is the #4 name and has been in the Top 50 for 20 years now – that means there are an awful lot of Olivias around. While [name]Eleanor[/name] is on the way up, it’s only #165 and I don’t see it entering the Top 10.
Also, I do think that a single name, not hyphenated, is going to make your daughter’s life infinitely simpler in so many ways. You obviously have experience with this and so maybe you feel the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, but I wonder what your hyphenated vs. non-hyphenated daughters advise? You can always do Eleanor-Jane.
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] is lovely. Would you use a nn? I think [name]Ella[/name] might be too close to [name]Emma[/name]'s name, but I think [name]Lea[/name] or [name]Norah[/name] would be fairly usable. Maybe even [name]Ellie[/name] or [name]Elle[/name], or [name]Elea[/name].
I honestly love both [name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name], but [name]Olivia[/name] does win it for me–I think [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] is so much more interesting and I love [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] with your children. I think [name]Eleanor[/name] starts to blend in with [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Elizabeth[/name], but I don’t think it’s so close that it’s a deal-breaker… just too close for my own comfort.
Good luck with your decision! I’ve seen several of your posts about a name and it seems like you’ve struggled with it a bit, so I hope you can find the perfect name for your little girl!
I love [name]Eleanor[/name]! It’s sweet, sophisticated, smart and noble sounding to me. I think [name]Olivia[/name] is ok but maybe because it’s so common it’s lost it’s appeal? I encourage you to go with your gut instinct or maybe even [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]?
[name]Olivia[/name] is lovely. It is very popular at the moment, but with good reason I suppose. It depends on how much you love it and if you mind there being a few others with the same name.
[name]Eleanor[/name] is pretty, unusal and quite sophisticated.(have you considered the [name]Elinor[/name] spelling. I’ve always thought it looks more attractive is all).
I wouldn’t hyphenate either name however, as usally people will only call the child by the very first name, rather than both.
[name]Eleanor[/name] is very pretty!really it is up to you cuz you can’t have [name]Livy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] if you name her [name]Eleanor[/name]…but there. Are some very cute nicknames with it too… I love [name]Norah[/name] and [name]Elle[/name]…
I guess I like [name]Olivia[/name], but [name]Eleanor[/name] is really nice too!
I really like [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] and I think [name]Livy[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] is darling. I try to like [name]Eleanor[/name], but I just can’t seem to find the appeal. Sounds really stuffy to me, though I’m sure I’ll be in the minority here…
I like [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name]. Although [name]Olivia[/name] is popular, the addition of [name]Jane[/name] is adorable. I have a niece named [name]Olivia[/name] and we call her [name]Livy[/name]. [name]Livy[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] would be so sweet!
Plus, even if [name]Eleanor[/name] isn’t that popular, the “[name]El[/name]” names are running rampant. I know more [name]Elle[/name]'s, [name]Ella[/name]'s, and [name]Ellie[/name]'s than anything else.
We would most likely call her [name]Ellie[/name], which in and of itself is pretty popular…
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is such a beautiful name, love the nn [name]Nora[/name]! That would be my pick, but you have to go with your gut!
I would usually pick [name]Eleanor[/name] over [name]Olivia[/name], but in this case, I think [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] is perfect. I mean, either way you’ll be great because they’re both beautiful. However, I think [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] sounds like it both belongs with your crowd without sounding like some names you already have. [name]Ellie[/name] and [name]Emmie[/name], [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Emma[/name]…too close for comfort plus [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] (I know it’s [name]Mary[/name] first, but still) is too close. I [name]LOVE[/name] the nickname [name]Liv[/name], just plain [name]Liv[/name], but I think [name]Livy[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] is sweet, too. I wouldn’t be bothered by popularity here.

[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Jane[/name] wins for me hands down. [name]Olivia[/name] is beautiful name but, so very popular that it starts to lose its luster for me when you hear it so much. Good luck
While i love the name [name]Eleanor[/name], I think you should go with your original choice of [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name]. Its stunning, and you have a special connection to it. Try to remember why you picked the name in the first place, and what you love about it. Maybe that will help you make your decision. [name]Both[/name] names are gorgeous; I can see your dilemma. [name]Just[/name] go with what feels most right to you.
Also, I haven’t share with extended family… but I have shared the name [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] with many firends, I am not even sure how I would go about recanting the name, without looking really stupid…
Stick with [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]! It is such a lovely name that has so much meaning for you and your husband. [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] is pretty, also, but I do agree with pp’s that it may be too close to [name]Emma[/name].

[name]Pam[/name]- if you catch this, I am wondering your thoughts on [name]Eleanor[/name] with [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Elizabeth[/name]??? Is it too much for one family???
Thanks everyone! I am going to really have to think about this for a bit! But, please keep your opinions coming in, it is giving me a lot to think on!
I would normally pick [name]Eleanor[/name] over [name]Olivia[/name], but I do really like [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] too. Have you considered waiting to finalize your choice until you meet her. That is what we did with our boys and I am so glad we did. We took one look at [name]Oliver[/name] and knew he was an [name]Oliver[/name] (with our [name]Luke[/name], it took a day or two to decide). It was really hard not having a final choice beforehand, particularly due to my obsession with names, but ultimately it was the right choice for us to wait and our little men were more aptly named for it.
I have thought about doing this… and I can see the benefits, but at the same time, I think it would leave me way too much “wiggle” room and would lead to more anxiety/doubt. I have had all the childrens names decided before they were born… and have been happy with my decisions. I may have had some initial doubts with a few of them but with in a month or so of their birth couldn’t imagine changing their name. I don’t know why I waiver so. Maybe b/c I just come across other names, and question myself too much… I am not sure. I do know not everyone can understand my issue, lol!
