[name]Penelope[/name] (loving the nns [name]Lola[/name], [name]Poppy[/name], and [name]Pippa[/name]!)
[name]Eliora[/name]
[name]Agatha[/name] (In general, I have preferred [name]Agnes[/name] in the past, but lately it’s been really speaking to me)
[name]Claire[/name] (as a family name, it’s already a MN on my list (in several places, actually–I’ve always really liked [name]Claire[/name]), but lately I’ve been considering it as a FN…)
[name]Brigid[/name] (Is it worth the hassle to go for a less-common spelling when everyone will still say it just like [name]Bridget[/name]? I’m not really a fan of [name]Bridget[/name], but I do like the look of [name]Brigid[/name]…)
[name]Luella[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]
[name]Edith[/name] “[name]Edie[/name]”
And lastly, a combo that’s been on my mind lately:
As far as [name]Agnes[/name] combos go, I quite like it.
Most of them have been MN options in the past, or old favorites that I had forgotten about. [name]Do[/name] any of them go really well with my favorites in my signature? Are any of them worthy of moving out of the “crush” stage and into the “favorites” stage?
I always love reading your posts and seeing your lists, [name]Ashley[/name]!
[name]Penelope[/name] (loving the nns [name]Lola[/name], [name]Poppy[/name], and [name]Pippa[/name]!) – I’ve begun to like this name as well! I’m sure it can be expected to see a huge rise in popularity with a Kardashian baby and all, but I still really like its fun rhythm and great nn options!
[name]Eliora[/name] – [name]LOVE[/name]! Very stunningly beautiful.
[name]Agatha[/name] (In general, I have preferred [name]Agnes[/name] in the past, but lately it’s been really speaking to me) – Too old lady for me. : /
[name]Claire[/name] – Beautifully simple and elegant. [name]Love[/name] it!
[name]Brigid[/name] – Actually, I prefer this to [name]Bridget[/name] as it feels/looks easier to pronounce. The only downside is that it sounds a bit cold and harsh to Western ears. I do see its beauty though!
[name]Luella[/name] – I think of a large, kind, Southern woman in her 60’s or 70s. Idk why, but I just can’t picture it on a baby.
[name]Lucia[/name] – Nice and I love its meaning!
[name]Edith[/name] “[name]Edie[/name]” – nms/can’t picture it on a baby.
I like [name]Lucia[/name] best from your list as well as the nickname [name]Pippa[/name]. Oooh how I love [name]Pippa[/name]! Not at fan of [name]Agnes[/name] at all - it makes me think old fashioned granny and not in a good way.
I’ve been thinking about [name]Eliora[/name] as well lately. [name]Feel[/name] like it just popped up on NB one day and now it’s everywhere.
I also love [name]Lucia[/name].
And while [name]Agatha[/name] isn’t going to make my list soon. I emits early thought of [name]Agatha[/name] [name]Christie[/name] and decided it had to be loved. Lol.
Your combo is gorgeous though.
[name]Penelope[/name]- [name]Penelope[/name] is such a cute name. [name]Every[/name] time I hear the name it seems to just radiate happiness. I may be the only person who thinks the nn [name]Penny[/name] is adorable!
[name]Eliora[/name]- This is such a beautiful name [name]IMO[/name]. Whenever I say the name out loud I can’t help but want to repeat it.
[name]Agatha[/name]- This one is on my list even though the general consensus on here (that I got) is that it’s too “old lady”. I think it’s adorable, sweet, and spunky. Plus how adorable is the nn [name]Aggie[/name]!
[name]Claire[/name] - A really sweet name. I wouldn’t personally use it because it’s my to be [name]SIL[/name] name.
[name]Brigid[/name]- If you’re in the US, I think this will just be mistaken for [name]Bridget[/name], and the pronunciation would be butchered.
[name]Luella[/name]- I’m not sure why, but I’m just not a fan.
[name]Lucia[/name]- I much prefer the simplicity of [name]Lucy[/name].
[name]Edith[/name] “[name]Edie[/name]”- see [name]Agatha[/name].
I really like [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Kate[/name]!
Out of your recent crushes I think [name]Claire[/name], [name]Eliora[/name], [name]Lucia[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] would fit best with your favorites in your signature.
[name]Penelope[/name] is awesome! So is [name]Pippa[/name]. If popularity is a prolem… I expect this to go into the top 100 within five years.
[name]Eliora[/name] is fine. Not my style.
[name]Agatha[/name] is cool. I also like [name]Agnes[/name]. There what nameberry calls cool but clunky.
[name]Brigid[/name] is sweet. Its one of those names you have to clarify the first couple times people meet her, but I think most people would catch on fast.
[name]Luella[/name] also makes me think of an old Southern lady. The Mitford series by [name]Jan[/name] [name]Karon[/name].
[name]Lucia[/name] also on my favorite list. Could get popular.
[name]Edith[/name] seems old lady, but is coming back!
[name]Agnes[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] I love without [name]Kate[/name]. I am not always a fan two middle names anyway. [name]Kate[/name] for me is a nickname.
I love [name]Penelope[/name]. We very nearly used it as a first name for our 4th daughter. I didn’t work that well with our last name.
Is [name]Brigid[/name] pronounced the same way as [name]Bridget[/name]? I love [name]Bridget[/name], but I think the [name]Brigid[/name] spelling would get mispronounced in the US. That would be my only concern with this name. [name]Bridget[/name] is one of my favorite names at the moment, but I’m not sure about [name]Brigid[/name]. I guess we have opposite tastes when it comes to these two names.
I think [name]Lucia[/name] and [name]Edith[/name] are both very sweet. [name]Lucia[/name] has some good nickname potential - [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Lulu[/name]. I like the nickname [name]Eddie[/name] with [name]Edith[/name].
[name]Agatha[/name] is a name that has been growing on me. I was surprised when my husband suggested this as a name for one of our daughters since he usually does not care for “old lady names” and I think this one qualifies. I really like old-fashioned names. It has a great association with [name]Agatha[/name] [name]Christie[/name]. I also like the nickname, [name]Aggie[/name], for this one.
I’m not crazy about [name]Eliora[/name] or [name]Luella[/name]. Too frilly for my taste.
I love [name]Claire[/name]. Streamlined, understatedly feminine. I think it’s beautiful.
I think [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is a pretty combination. I’m not crazy about [name]Agnes[/name] but I think these three names work well together.
I know a little [name]Luella[/name]. We were all kind of caught off guard by the choice- but it’s so fitting now. Spunky, [name]Curley[/name] haired little chubby cheeked girl!
I remember that blog post! I had loved [name]Eliora[/name] long before then–it’s just taken a while to creep onto my list. It’s been a MN for a while; I have [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Eliora[/name] [name]Lou[/name] on my list now. I’m not sure I’d love it as a FN, though, because I can’t stand the nn [name]Ellie[/name]. I do like [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Lola[/name], which I think could work for [name]Eliora[/name].
@meetcute - as for [name]Agnes[/name], it has strong ties to both my mom, and my best friend who passed away Dec. 2010, so it’s always been close to my heart. Plus, I love the French pronunciation (ahn-YESS), and the opportunity for [name]Annie[/name] as a nn (so much cuter than [name]Aggie[/name], for me! I can’t disassociate [name]Aggie[/name] and “hag”). I had always thought if I ever was brave enough to use [name]Agnes[/name], I would opt for [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Violet[/name] [name]Jane[/name]/[name]Lark[/name]/____, but I’ve recently come across [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Kate[/name] (which would also honor my great-grandma), and I really like it. I like that [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Kate[/name] sort of modernizes the vintagey [name]Agnes[/name].
[name]Penelope[/name] - I have a soft spot for this, as it’s one of my cats’ names. I love the history of this name, and the nn’s are very pretty.
[name]Eliora[/name] - I’ve had some negative experiences with a [name]Liora[/name], which have colored any variant to me.
[name]Agatha[/name] - This has been growing on me too! I don’t think I’d ever use it, but I could absolutely see it on a little toddler
[name]Claire[/name] - I love [name]Claire[/name], but I much prefer [name]Clara[/name] as a fn.
[name]Brigid[/name] - I think this would work in the states, but it would definitely be more of a challenge than the others on your list
[name]Luella[/name] - Such a sugary sweet name, in a good way (there is a bad way too!). It’s frilly, stylish, and wild west all at the same time!
[name]Lucia[/name] - Very pretty, but it doesn’t excite me
[name]Edith[/name] “[name]Edie[/name]” - I have a special connection to this name, so I like it a lot. However, I’m not sure how I’d feel if I didn’t have that connection…
[name]Eliora[/name] is my favorite from your list. I too have been crushing on it.
[name]Lucia[/name] is very pretty.
[name]Agnes[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is a very beautiful combo
All your name choices are so well thought out and have such a deep connection to you or family or your friend. You really can’t go wrong with any of them!
[name]Penelope[/name]: I used to love it, but now I’m over it. I have a hard time imagining what a [name]Penelope[/name] would be like.
[name]Eliora[/name]: All of the vowels make it kind of hard to say. In theory it’s gorgeous, but I’m not sure how practical it is.
[name]Agatha[/name]: I feel like I should love [name]Agatha[/name] and [name]Agnes[/name], but I just don’t. [name]Both[/name] names have lovely, rich histories, but the “ag” sound is unattractive to me.
[name]Claire[/name]: Simple, elegant, and versatile. Not a name I would use, but I’m always happy to see it used.
[name]Brigid[/name]: Not a fan
[name]Luella[/name]: Girly, fun, with a kind of cowgirl/country girl spunk to it. I’ve considered it before.
[name]Lucia[/name]: I prefer [name]Lucy[/name].
[name]Edith[/name]: [name]One[/name] of my favorites. It’s strong, feminine, and elegant. [name]Edie[/name] is sweet.
[name]Penelope[/name]: I actually really loved this name when I was younger, but now I just tend to think of it as being too girly-girly. I do love [name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Pippa[/name], though.
[name]Eliora[/name]: Interesting name, can’t say I’ve ever heard it before. It reminds me of Evanora (which has been a quilty pleasure of mine ever since I watched [name]Oz[/name]: The Great and Powerful). It’s a great name. [name]Elly[/name] would be a nice nickname.
[name]Agatha[/name]: I personally prefer it as a middle name ([name]Agathe[/name] is just lovely), but I do think it’s a very charming name.
[name]Claire[/name]: It’s alright, not one of my favourites, but I don’t have anything against it.
[name]Brigid[/name]: I also prefer this spelling over [name]Bridget[/name], it has a nice old spirit without being “too” oldish.
[name]Luella[/name]: [name]Don[/name]'t like it.
[name]Lucia[/name]: A very great name. I personally love it in a sibset with [name]Giulia[/name].
[name]Edith[/name]: Makes me think of [name]Edith[/name] [name]Piaf[/name] - which definitely isn’t a bad association as [name]Piaf[/name] is one of the best singers the world has ever seen. I do have a fondness for this name, it has a very nice ring to it.
[name]Agnes[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is a lovely combination, I adore [name]Agnes[/name].
[name]Ah[/name] we have a lot of the same name crushes!
[name]Penelope[/name] - I’m torn on this one. This seems to be a favorite on here but that makes me think it’s kind of overrated. I can see how it’s a good name, I like the nickname potential, but I don’t think I actually like the sound of it/any of the nicknames enough to put it on my list. Still a great name in general though, and I think it fits my usual style.
[name]Eliora[/name] - love it! It’s one of my favorite [name]El[/name]- names, I love how flowy it is.
[name]Agatha[/name] - I actually was just looking this one up! I like the -tha part (I’ve discovered I love names with ‘th’ in them haha) but the aga- part is just really ugly to me. The nickname “[name]Aggie[/name]” also doesn’t appeal to me, but this seems like a name that will be brought back soon.
[name]Claire[/name] - a crowd-pleaser! I love it just like pretty much everyone. It’s so simple and beautiful and although everyone knows a million Claires (or at least I do!) it still strikes me everytime.
[name]Brigid[/name] - don’t really care for it. [name]Love[/name] [name]Bridget[/name] (especially with the nicknames [name]Bridie[/name] and [name]Birdie[/name]) but [name]Brigid[/name] just seems a little too medieval for my taste.
[name]Luella[/name] - this is actually a family name for me! I had never heard it anywhere else before nameberry. I think it’s beautiful though lots of people think it sounds kind of silly. I love it with the nickname [name]Lula[/name].
[name]Lucia[/name] - [name]How[/name] are you pronouncing it? [name]Love[/name] loo-see-uh and loo-chee-uh, don’t really like loo-sha. [name]Love[/name] the nickname [name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Edith[/name] “[name]Edie[/name]” - this is one of my hardcore crushes right now! I love the history behind it, how unique it is, the ‘th’ sound, and I [name]LOVE[/name] the nickname [name]Edie[/name]. It sounds so classy and sassy at the same time. I think it might turn into one of my favorites.
[name]Agnes[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is amazing! All the names compliment each other really well. [name]Emilia[/name] helps balance out the seriousness of [name]Agnes[/name] and [name]Kate[/name] is always a good idea. Definitely a keeper!
As for if they go with the names in your signature, I’d say [name]Claire[/name], [name]Lucia[/name], and [name]Eliora[/name] are the best fits.
Yes, I say Ahn-yess too… which is why I think your combo [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is completely beautiful. It’s perfect.
Of your other names, I love…
[name]Luella[/name]-- I’m a fan of the Louelle/Luelle/[name]Louella[/name] combinations too. It’s the meaning that appeals to me first and the [name]Lou[/name] sound that I love.
[name]Lucia[/name] – Only [name]Lu[/name]-chee-ah for me. The other versions don’t seem to have the same weight.
[name]Edith[/name] – What surprises me about this is I adore this name spelt [name]Edyth[/name]. This is not usual for me, I like names in their most known form as far as possible but [name]Edyth[/name] just seems so vogue.
