I have loved the name [name]Ailsa[/name] for years. It’s my best friend’s name & she was named after her mum’s best friend. I’d always planned on using it for a girl but recently its gone off my radar, probably because I’m so used to it, it seemed dull compared to newly discovered names. However its exactly my style - whimsical, naturey ([name]Ailsa[/name] [name]Craig[/name] rock in [name]Scotland[/name]), celtic, unusual (#1150 in UK) but not unheard of, it has a similar feel to [name]Aoife[/name], Isolde, [name]Isla[/name] plus its a lovely way of honouring my friend. What do you berries think?

[name]How[/name] do you say it? AIL-sah? I’m just never sure with Gaelic names I’m unfamiliar with, haha. It looks pretty. I like [name]Ailsa[/name] [name]Lark[/name], [name]Ailsa[/name] [name]Violet[/name], [name]Ailsa[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name], and [name]Ailsa[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]. [name]Ailsa[/name] [name]Violet[/name]'s probably my favorite, though.

Is this friend still in your life? I wouldn’t think you’d care to use it if she wasn’t, but I’m just wondering how hard it would be to keep both Ailsas straight.

She is but we live quite far away so don’t see each other often, I think if I saw her everyday it would be confusing.

I had to look it up and hear it, the site i found says it as, “Eye-leesh”

Perhaps you spelt it wrong? I’ve never heard that pronunciation before, that sounds more like [name]Alisha[/name] than [name]Ailsa[/name]

most of those are nms as I’m not really into classic names. [name]Ailsa[/name] [name]Cathleen[/name] is nice though, if you like classic names i think [name]Ailsa[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] is stunning

I love [name]Ailsa[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]. It sounds very earthy but also a bit princess-y as a combo to me, and I love the way it looks (I have a weird thing about the aesthetics of names when they’re written down, like length, and letter arrangement)

[name]Ailsa[/name] is so pretty. When I was about 5 there was a ‘much older’ girl in my school (she was probably only 8, haha) who’s name was [name]Ailsa[/name], and I remember thinking it was just the prettiest name ever and I admired her so much for it.
