[name_f]Rina[/name_f]
What is the best spelling for baby girl name pronounced [name_f]Reena[/name_f]. Is it only a nn or shortened version or can it be used alone?
[name_f]Reena[/name_f]
[name_f]Rena[/name_f]
[name_f]Rina[/name_f]
[name_f]Rina[/name_f] is my preferred spelling, and I like it most as a nickname for [name_f]Carina[/name_f] or [name_f]Katrina[/name_f]
Definitely [name_f]Rina[/name_f]! I don’t think she needs a longer name, she’s lovely on her own.
I would spell her as [name_f]Rina[/name_f]. Does not need a full name imo
I like [name_f]Rina[/name_f] best, but [name_f]Reena[/name_f] is a close second. I think it works as a full name!
[name_f]Rina[/name_f] looks sleek and clear to me
I have a friend named [name_f]Rena[/name_f], pronounced Ree-na, and it is not short for anything. She’s never had any problems with pronunciation or someone looking for her longer name as far as I know. She’s in her 60s.
I think [name_f]Rena[/name_f] could have pronunciation difficulties because of its similarity to [name_f]Renee[/name_f] and [name_f]Renata[/name_f]. It also makes me think of “renal”.
[name_f]Rina[/name_f] is probably the easier spelling to go with, but [name_f]Reena[/name_f] would work too. It can absolutely stand on its own.
Im going to disagree with most of the comments and say [name_f]Rena[/name_f]! At least on the west coast USA (where [name_u]Reno[/name_u] is a pretty well known place) I feel like [name_f]Rena[/name_f] would get the ree-nuh pronunciation where as [name_f]Rina[/name_f], would probably be pronounced Rye-na. And personally I prefer the streamlined look of [name_f]Rena[/name_f] oflver [name_f]Reena[/name_f]
For what its worth, [name_u]Ive[/name_u] known 2 Rena’s both pronounced Ree-nuh, and neither of them have ever had any problems beyond introdocuing themselves.
I love the name as does my husband… which is a first cuz usually we disagree on names for months.
This time we are undecided on the spelling.
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband likes [name_f]Reena[/name_f] cuz he says it looks like the way the name is pronounced. But i think it looks funny spelled that way.
I like [name_f]Rina[/name_f] but my husband says if he sees it like that he would pronounce it as Rye-na not Ree-na.
When i suggested [name_f]Rena[/name_f] which im not obsessed with but would be okay with he said no cuz to him it would be pronounced as Wren-a.
Also i wanted it as a stand alone name was thinking as middle but to call her by it. But hubby said he thinks its a nn and would feel funny putting it on birth certificate.
Any help here is appreciated
I would say [name_f]Rena[/name_f] as REH-na and [name_f]Rina[/name_f] as REE-na
[name_f]Rina[/name_f], to me, reads as ree-na. I do not think most would intuitively pronounce [name_f]Rina[/name_f] as rye-na at all (for reference, I am from the U.S.). I think that [name_f]Rina[/name_f] is stunning and perfection all on her own, and [name_f]Rena[/name_f] would be my second favorite for you, as I agree with you that [name_f]Reena[/name_f] looks a bit funny to me (depending on where you live, I imagine). But if your husband is not satisfied with Rina/Rena/Reena on her own, and you are open to compromising and looking for a longer form, here is what I would suggest!
[name_f]Carina[/name_f] - “dear, beloved,” Late Latin.
[name_f]Irina[/name_f] - from [name_f]Eirene[/name_f], the Greek goddess of peace, also meaning “peace.”
Kaltrina - meaning “azure, blue” in Albanian.
[name_f]Marina[/name_f] - perhaps means “of the sea,” and has Ancient [name_m]Roman[/name_m] usage.
[name_f]Nerina[/name_f] - perhaps “nymph, sea sprite,” Italian.
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] - the Latinized Welsh name for the [name_u]River[/name_u] Severn, which has fantastic lore surrounding it!
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] - “clear, serene, tranquil,” Late Latin.
[name_f]Zorina[/name_f] - “aurora, dawn,” Croatian and Moldovan.
Good luck with your naming, and I hope his helps, even a little bit!
I would go with [name_f]Rina[/name_f]. I think it works perfectly well as a full name!
[name_f]Rena[/name_f] looks neatest to me
i like rina best !! i think she works just fine as a standalone. makes me think of the singer rina sawayama
I like [name_f]Rina[/name_f] best and I think it works just fine as a first name without being a shortened version!
