What are your initial thoughts on the name [name]Regis[/name] for a boy? What kinds of attributes do you assign to the name? Can you think of any possible way it can be made fun of or any reason not to use it?
My DH and I are expecting baby #4, a boy, on Sept 1. We have three little girls, [name]Reagan[/name], [name]Avery[/name], and [name]Paige[/name]. Our last name is [name]Thompson[/name]. We are seriously divided on names. My short list included the names [name]Graham[/name] and [name]Henry[/name]…DH doesn’t care for them (but doesn’t hate them and I will fight for [name]Graham[/name] until this baby takes his first breath). If he had his way he would name our son [name]Aiden[/name], which I would never in a million years choose.
[name]Regis[/name] is one that we both kind of agree on, but we also agree that it is a risk because it’s so rare. It does have special meaning, as someone quite beloved to us is named [name]Regis[/name] (he is in his 80s). I will admit that I am NOT looking forward to obnoxious family members pointing out the correlation to [name]Regis[/name] [name]Philbin[/name].
Honestly, my only association/thought on [name]Regis[/name] is [name]Regis[/name] [name]Philbin[/name]. I’m not a fan of the sound of the name itself, but aside from that, if the association doesn’t bother you, I don’t think it’s unusable necessarily.
Googling tells me [name]Regis[/name] [name]Philbin[/name] is a talkshow host or something?
My honest opinion is that regardless of any association with public figures (and you need to decide if it bothers you or not :)) [name]Regis[/name] is too close to [name]Reagan[/name]… But it makes me think ‘king’ so if you want to honour the special [name]Regis[/name] you know, I would suggest:
[name]Leroy[/name]
[name]Royce[/name]
[name]Rex[/name]
[name]Reg[/name] (guess it depends if you like nicknames as names, [name]Reginald[/name] if don’t)
I think the NN [name]Roy[/name] is adorable for [name]Leroy[/name] or [name]Royce[/name].
You both seem to like celitc sounding names for your boy, so aside from the [name]Regis[/name] connection, [name]Graham[/name] and [name]Aiden[/name] make me think of:

To me [name]Regis[/name] is basically the same name as [name]Reagan[/name]. As well as being similar in sound, as far as I know they both mean king/ruler/something along those lines.
