I’m in need of some [name_f]Berrie[/name_f] magic- does anyone know how to get professional advice from [name_u]Abby[/name_u]?
In a nutshell, I’m a [name_u]Gemini[/name_u] and a planner - a difficult combo. I need a short list to perseverate over for at least a few months to name our third little girl. Older sisters are [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. My husband and I are not agreeing on much, and feel like we have gone over every possible name. We need a flower or nature middle. I’m loving [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], and he’s fine with that, so it’s a strong preference. I not a fan of [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and we cannot use [name_f]Nola[/name_f]/[name_f]Nolie[/name_f] for too close reasons, so [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is not an option for the first name.
He likes strong, (often classic) names and vetoed [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] because it seemed like a nickname to him. A few names he likes are [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I’m not loving [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] with our sibset, and just eliminated [name_u]Emery[/name_u], thanks to all the [name_f]Berrie[/name_f] advice from my last post. I know a million Emilys and can’t get behind [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], and don’t love [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] falls flat for me because I know so many right now. I’m not opposed to [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], but like having easy nicknames and don’t want [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_u]Kit[/name_u] or [name_f]Kat[/name_f].
So, right now we have a penciled list of [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f], which also seems to fall flat with the sibs. I’d love to find a name I’m excited about! Other names we’ve discussed and ruled out for a variety of reasons include: [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], anything that starts with P, [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or any name with an -een sound, [name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f].
You probably already know this, but [name_u]Abby[/name_u]'s webpage is appellation.net and she has contact info on the page. You might also try Swistle at Swistle: Baby Names.
Though I agree that [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] makes more sense as a middle name with your sibset, I wanted to mention [name_f]Lia[/name_f] as a possible nn.
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are gorgeous! I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] with it so it’s unfortunate you guys are fond of it. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] also goes great and I love the nickname [name_f]Katie[/name_f] if that changes anything?
For nature/flower middle names other than [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]…
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
[name_f]Camellia[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Briony[/name_f]
[name_f]Mallory[/name_f] instantly came to mind! It shares similar sounds to [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], and [name_u]Emery[/name_u], in essence a combination of the three:) I think it also has that same elegant, classic look and sound of [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]. [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], and [name_f]Mallory[/name_f] definitely sound like sisters to me! My sister is [name_f]Mallory[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but I also find [name_f]Mallory[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] simply stunning.
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is a gorgeous name, and if both you and your husband love it, maybe it’s the one! You could use [name_f]Mia[/name_f] or [name_f]Lia[/name_f] as a nickname. Or even [name_f]Molly[/name_f]- the M initial, the letters “ol” and the “ee” sound are all in it. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Molly[/name_f] would be darling with your girls’ names. It has the same “modern American, with history” feel that your first two daughters’ names give off to me.
You guys also seem to like [name_f]Em[/name_f]- names, so you might like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] if you’re open to an -een ending, or if you pronounce it -line instead of -leen. (You will probably get a lot of pronunciation issues with this one though.)
Other suggestions:
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]/[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] with the -en ending
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Camelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Camellia[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] (if you don’t mind repeating initials)
[name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
Thank you all for your time and advice! We’ve taken a few and have a very penciled list - love the nn ideas for [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] too. I emailed [name_u]Abby[/name_u], and plan to rest on this until the new year. At least I now know this little girl will have a name!
