What do you think of [name_m]Remington[/name_m] nn [name_u]Remy[/name_u]? Is [name_m]Remington[/name_m] too pretentious? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer just [name_u]Remy[/name_u] as a fn instead?
[name_u]Remy[/name_u] popped into my head and dh and I are both loving it…then we saw [name_m]Remington[/name_m] and thought hmmm…
I love [name_u]Remy[/name_u] but have never much liked [name_m]Remington[/name_m] because of the association with the gun (not trying to start a debate or anything). [name_m]Just[/name_m] my opinion.
[name_u]Remy[/name_u] is an awesome name on its own. I also associate [name_m]Remington[/name_m] with guns. I don’t see it as being pretentious at all though.
I like both but prefer [name_u]Remy[/name_u] so that would be my pick.

[name_u]Remy[/name_u] is a great name and can stand on its own without the full-blown [name_m]Remington[/name_m] (which is a little much, [name_f]IMO[/name_f]).
I normally prefer longer names, but in this case I much prefer [name_u]Remy[/name_u]. It’s such a substantial name all on its own!
Also prefer [name_u]Remy[/name_u]. Wasn’t [name_m]Remington[/name_m] a razor brand? Somehow that’s what I think of.
I vastly prefer [name_u]Remy[/name_u]. [name_m]Remington[/name_m] sounds very stodgy…not really a bad name, just nms. And isn’t it also an electric toothbrush brand? Or electric razors or something? Hmmm. Not sure. [name_u]Remy[/name_u] is warm and works for all ages, to me.
I love [name_m]Remington[/name_m], and while I think [name_u]Remy[/name_u] is a cute nickname it definitely doesn’t seem solid enough to be a stand alone first for me.
As for the gun association, some people will hate it and some people will love it just like any other name. If it doesn’t bother you (it wouldn’t bother me) then go for it.
I love [name_u]Remy[/name_u] but hate [name_m]Remington[/name_m]. All [name_m]Remington[/name_m] makes me think of is guns and violence. I realize some people are into the weapon-name thing on boys, I’m just not one of them.
[name_u]Remy[/name_u] on it’s own is delightful, though!

I did think of [name_m]Remington[/name_m] [name_u]Steele[/name_u], the gun and the “lady remington” shaver…but these are all just vague associations for me…maybe because of geography or my age…either way…none of those associations are strong enough to bother me. I’m just not sure I like [name_m]Remington[/name_m] as much as [name_u]Remy[/name_u]…really do love [name_u]Remy[/name_u]! lol. thanks again!!!

[name_m]Remington[/name_m] sounds pretentious and/or will remind people of the gun. I live in Australia and guns barely register in my consciousness, yet that was still my first association. Ick.
[name_m]Remington[/name_m] is a fire-arm to me and I don’t think [name_u]Remy[/name_u] is substantial enough to use as a full name. I would go for [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_m]WAY[/name_m] before I would choose [name_m]Remington[/name_m], though.
