[name_m]Hi[/name_m] again berries,
So, it seems I have done a 180 and come back to [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_f]Rita[/name_f]…
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I adore the name [name_u]Remy[/name_u] for our first child, a girl, due in [name_u]December[/name_u].
[name_f]My[/name_f] dilemma is that I have always wanted to honour my Grandmother and use her name, [name_f]Rita[/name_f], as a middle name if ever I were to have a daughter.
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband seems to like [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_f]Rita[/name_f], and we cannot find another first girls name we like as much [name_u]Remy[/name_u]. In fact, we have had a VERY difficult time agreeing on any girls names so [name_u]Remy[/name_u] is staying. One minute I think [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_f]Rita[/name_f] sounds cute and spunky and then the next I think it sounds really silly - afterall they both start with R and have 2 syllables. I asked my husband if he liked [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] ([name_f]Rita[/name_f] means [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]) but he hates it and we are not using [name_f]Margerite[/name_f] or [name_f]Margarita[/name_f]. If I honour my [name_f]Nanny[/name_f] it has to be her actual name of [name_f]Rita[/name_f].
Our surname is of slavic origin, starts with K and has 3 syllables (maybe 2 depending on how you pronounce it! It’s a tricky one…).
With our surname being of slavic origin, we have also looked at names on that side of the family that are much nicer and more interesting ([name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] and [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f] being the main 2), but not using [name_f]Rita[/name_f] just doesn’t sit right with me.
Hearing your opinions on [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_f]Rita[/name_f] will be really helpful.
Edit: The only variation I might like is Sarita…
Remy Sarita?
I think of [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] [name_f]Rita[/name_f] by The Beatles. I think because [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] end the same way… This could just be me (not a bad association, just kinda leaves the song in my head for a little while lol)
Remy [name_f]Rita[/name_f] reminds me of [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] and [name_f]Katy[/name_f] [name_u]Perry[/name_u]’s new baby, [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]. I just don’t like first names and middle names starting with the same letter… But if it’s what the parents want and love, I say go for it!
I say you should go with [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_f]Rita[/name_f]. The name doesn’t sound that bad to say, and the meaning behind the name is more important.
I agree with @Sky85 for all of the agonizing on the part of the parents, most middle names are very rarely used. I think [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_f]Rita[/name_f] is a great name, especially knowing how important it is to you.
I have just stumbles upon the name [name_f]Sarita[/name_f].
I know it’s a form of [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] but it means princess and has rita in it… maybe it could work?
I think both [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_f]Rita[/name_f] and [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_f]Sarita[/name_f] are great! If [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_f]Rita[/name_f] bothers you, then go with [name_f]Sarita[/name_f] but I kinda like the way [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_f]Rita[/name_f] sounds. It’s sassy.
