Rename - Me?

I saw the Nameberry post on FB today about renaming and I am seriously considering it.

I’m changing my surname by deed poll when my divorce is finalised (I don’t want to go back to my maiden name so I’m going use my Gma’s maiden name) and I’m still deciding if I should also change my first name.

[name_f]Effie[/name_f] is a nickname that I picked a few years ago for my first name cos I was never a fan. But there are still people in my life (family/old friends) who call me by first name and I’m not sure how to handle getting them to call me something different.
If I did change my first name I think I would stick with [name_f]Effie[/name_f], I like it and I think it suits me but I wonder if my parents would be upset, they are aware that I don’t like my first name but don’t see what is wrong with it.

Any advice?

You’re an adult, it’s your name now, and if you feel more comfortable getting rid of a name you don’t like, I’d say now is a good time.

I would say change it if you want to, and [name_f]Effie[/name_f] is a lovely name. I also love that your changing your last name to your grandmothers maiden name
