We are in the process of adopting a one-year old girl that we have had since birth, and will be renaming her (due to safety and preference). It is much different naming a baby you have known for awhile! Need some help. We like more traditional names, but not super popular ([name_f]Emily[/name_f] is my favorite, but don’t want her to be [name_f]Emily[/name_f] R. for the rest of her life). Easy to spell and pronounce. Middle name will be [name_f]Marie[/name_f] (both mine and her biological mom’s middle names, even though it is generic). She is Hispanic with fair skin, jet black curly hair and dark brown eyes, if that helps you picture a good name for her.
Siblings are: [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] (late 90’s baby), [name_u]Bryce[/name_u], [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
Favorites so far:
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] (too common)
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] (too 90’s?)
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] (one syllable - too plain?)
[name_f]Alaina[/name_f] (too many ways to spell it?)
I like the suggestion of [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] if [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is your favorite, but possibly too common. I also like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f].
Instead of [name_f]Alaina[/name_f], I much prefer the spelling [name_f]Elena[/name_f] for you. Not only is [name_f]Alaina[/name_f] very similar to [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f], it’s also a non-traditional spelling (as you said, there are several spellings, but [name_f]Elena[/name_f] is more common than the others and will likely lead to less confusion).
I also like [name_f]Hope[/name_f]! It’s so underused and works great with your other children’s names.
Other ideas:
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
