Renaming my 2 month old-update/thoughts?

Well as some of you may recall, I named my DD [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Violet[/name] and was having some serious name regret over the last few weeks. I am coming around to the name but it still isn’t winning me over as my son in particular runs it together and it sounds like [name]Rosie[/name] ( a name I don’t like, and then I just can’t seem to like the ee ending-etc.)I like the way it looks but am just not liking the way it sounds when I say it. I do find it pretty some days, and not sure if it will be worth the trouble since I am still not getting my top choice(s).

SO my husband agreed to revisit the naming process, (with lots of strings attached) and winnowed down my original list and then I added some new ones. He is still in the vetoing process but I am not sure which ones I should fight for, these are the ones that survived the first massive cut.

from my original list:

[name]Indigo[/name] (I really like this)
[name]Serafina[/name] (long, but lovely-maybe a bit too saccharin)
[name]Georgia[/name] (I am worried this may sound too close to my other DD [name]Saoirse[/name]) love this with [name]Rosalie[/name] or [name]Violet[/name], it fits my short, pretty, easy to say but different profile.

New to a second list, that he did not yet veto:

[name]Callista[/name]
[name]Annika[/name]
[name]Twila[/name] (just OK to me)
[name]Delilah[/name]
[name]Aria[/name] (kind of empty sounding [name]IMO[/name]-maybe not worth the renaming process)
[name]Irina[/name]
[name]Deirdre[/name]
[name]Augusta[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name]

Of the new list I really only like [name]Callista[/name], [name]Delilah[/name], and [name]Irina[/name]…not sure I like anything from the new list enough to go through a change.I was grasping at straws for things ending in A and was NOT expecting him to select what he did so now at least I have some names to consider.

Any thoughts on what works well with this mix of middle names and siblings [name]Isabel[/name], [name]Schuyler[/name], [name]Saoirse[/name] and [name]Felix[/name]?

For some reason I can’t make my names hyperlinks-if anyone can help me there I’d appreciate it.

[name]TIA[/name]!

[name]Serafina[/name]/[name]Seraphina[/name]/[name]Seraphine[/name]
[name]Annika[/name]
[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Irina[/name]

Are good ideas to me. The rest aren’t that great, and aren’t worth switching over from [name]Rosalie[/name] for.
Keep in mind your son is probably young, so butchering pronunciations is a given, and not worth changing a child’s name over.

To hyperlink names put the tags [name*]Name[/name*], with out the *

[name]Indigo[/name] [name]Violet[/name] sounds beautiful but I am not crazy about using two colors… [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Violet[/name] I equally love and it has lots of charm. It wins for me  however I don’t know how to pronounce your other daughters name do maybe I am way off on that haha. my next choice would be [name]Irina[/name] [name]Violet[/name].

I followed your last post, so I’m glad your husband came around with rethinking the name! I am in love with [name]Indigo[/name], my husband vetoed it very early, but I keep going back to it. It’s so pretty and different! I love [name]Georgia[/name], and don’t think it’s too similar to your other daughter’s name, although I feel [name]Indigo[/name] would be a name of its own. [name]Serafina[/name] is only ok to me, because I don’t particularly like the “sera” part of it…but that’s just me.

Of the second list, I prefer [name]Delilah[/name]…it reminds me of the same type of girl who would have the name [name]Rosalie[/name].

[name]Callista[/name] has a really great meaning " most beautiful."But I like the spelling ‘[name]Kallista[/name]’ better, I can’t really say why.

[name]Delilah[/name] is one of my favorite names and I think that [name]Delilah[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] and [name]Delilah[/name] [name]Violet[/name] both sound pretty. [name]Delilah[/name] also still has a flowery sound to it , but it also has a little bit of a hip -coolness that your other children’s names have as well.

Sorry, I still like the original name. I have a hard time understanding the number of mothers who want to change names, although of course I have no experience myself. [name]Little[/name] kids will always pronounce names funny, it’s just the nature of the beast (and usually it’s darn cute!). That being said, I do like most of the names on your list! [name]Glad[/name] you have a supporting husband through this tough decision

Well I’m glad your dh is being more open to changing the name. First of all if you do change it, you need to pick something you really love. [name]Indigo[/name] would not be something I would choose but if you really love it then go with that. I think [name]Serafina[/name] is too close to Saorise. [name]Georgia[/name] is also lovely and not at all close to Saorise imo. Of the three from the second list that you like I really think [name]Callista[/name] is beautiful. [name]Callie[/name] is an aborable nn. As far as matching with your other children’s names I don’t think you need to worry about it you have varying styles among your children’s names(which isn’t a bad thing) so I think pretty much anything would work. If it was up to me I would go with [name]Callista[/name]. Good luck to you.

I really like both [name]Callista[/name] and [name]Irina[/name]! I’d say either [name]Callista[/name] [name]Violet[/name] or [name]Irina[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] would be lovely and fit great with your other children’s names!

I really like [name]Indigo[/name], but I feel its a bit mismatched with the other names. My favorites are:

[name]Serafina[/name]
[name]Callista[/name]
[name]Twila[/name]
[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Irina[/name]

I really love [name]Rosalie[/name]! Obviously, it’s up to you & your husband, but I think [name]Rosalie[/name] is lovely and since it seems like these other names don’t feel 100% perfect why not stick it out with [name]Rosalie[/name]…you can always encourage your son to call her [name]Lee[/name] or even [name]Sissy[/name] until he can pronounce [name]Rosalie[/name] correctly.

East93 thanks for the hyperlink info, and your opinions!

Shaymin, I really like Indigo too but I agree it does not match as well, but I also agree with wildrose that my kids’ names are a bit all -over-the-place and consequently not worth trying to make match to much. Indio has a WAY more hippy vibe than the rest -that said, if he’s on board, it’s a hard one to resist as it was the only one other than Georgia and Serafina that survived my original list and I agree with some of the others that Serafina may just be too close to Saoirse.

That leaves me with Georgia, Indigo, then Callista, and Delilah and Irina as potential names up for discussion, possibly in that order (for me). I can still use Violet as a first name too which I am considering.

I went through all names ending in A in this database and this is all that’s left after my and his culling, but if someone has more ideas of an unusual name ending in A or O, I am all ears.

To me, she just fits Katrina SO well. I also liked Saskia but he thought that was WAY to weird with a plain irish surname :frowning:

Kerrie, thanks for the vote for the original too, the status quo may end up the winner, this is all very tentative and I want to make sure that whatever I choose trumps Rosalie in my heart/preference.

[name]Hi[/name] taz, something about the way it comes out for me just doesn’t flow-I love the rose association, and the way it looks, but I o to say it, and I just don’t like it much. But I agree, as I said it needs to be a name that trumps [name]Rosalie[/name] for me when I say it. Right now, that is only [name]Indigo[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name]…though I do like the 2-3 newer possibilities, they are new so I’d have to give it some more practice.

Out of [name]Indigo[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name] I prefer [name]Georgia[/name]…but I like that [name]Indigo[/name] can be nicknamed to [name]Indy[/name].

But I think [name]Georgia[/name] nn [name]Gigi[/name] is even cuter!

I really adore [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Violet[/name]. [name]Don[/name]'t think I can get away with [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Violet[/name] but it’s rather fun! (It’s even sillier than the 2 flower names I’ve ot now so I probably need to stop there.)

I would like to keep [name]Rosalie[/name] in the mix somehow, as a second mn but I am not sure if that will work. If I use [name]Indigo[/name] I could use [name]Rosalie[/name] to break up the [name]Indio[/name] and the [name]Violet[/name] (this is assuming [name]Indigo[/name] will even make his second cut).

I also would have revisited our original runner-up of [name]Thalia[/name] but now that’s a no-go for him. I wonder if we had named her that at the hospital if he’d be having the same regret I do about the name we chose!

If she fits [name]Katrina[/name], you could go with [name]Catriona[/name]. If you look it up on NB it is pronounced the same and fits the enthnicity perfectly.

A suggestion of for a name ending in a: [name]Oriella[/name]. I don’t know if you’ll like it, but it came to me because an acquaintance recently used it and it’s pretty unusual. Perhaps it’s too close to [name]Isobel[/name].

[name]Hi[/name] widrose-I am not sure how else I could sell this one ([name]Catriona[/name]) as he vetoed it I think once he knew it had the same pronunciation.

[name]Oriella[/name] is kind of nice, but not sure-it seems like he is avoiding anything ending in elle and I haven’t considered anything ending in ella b/c of [name]Isabel[/name].

I thought about just calling her Rosika (rozycka I think is the proper spelling) and then I might be able to get away with not changing her name.

i have a feeling we’ve waited too long and now it is stuck.

Hiya, am glad your husband is willing to give it a little more thought. That said I, like others really like [name]Rosalie[/name] but understand how bad it can feel when people aren’t pronouncing it the way you want. I think your son would grow out of it but obviously others are going to say it how they think it is which may not be your perfect way.

You said you wondered about Rosika? There is also Rosalita, or [name]Rosita[/name] which are both very pretty.

I wondered how you are pronouncing [name]Saoirse[/name]? I’m not sure it’s similar enough to [name]Georgia[/name] to be a problem but then I’m not sure how to say it?

Of your newer list I like indigo butagree it’s a little more out there than the rest of your names and may not work as well - is pretty and unusual though.

Never been sold on [name]Georgia[/name], I want to like it (think my husband does lol) but I can’t get away from the [name]George[/name] sound at the beginning and I wouldn’t be happy with people calling my girl [name]George[/name]

[name]Serafina[/name] is very pretty, really like it but it just makes me think of celeb babies. I like the alternative of Saphina/Saffina - slightly shorter but just as pretty?

Also really like [name]Catriona[/name] but can’t use it personally as my sisters fave name is [name]Katherine[/name] and obviously is an derivative of the same. I wouldn’t pronounce it like [name]Katrina[/name] though. Maybe because I am English but I would pronounce it [name]Cat[/name]-tri-o-na, basically the way it looks. Not really a fan of [name]Katrina[/name].

Quite like [name]Irina[/name] - is very eastern european for me but obviously v pretty
[name]Callista[/name] - pretty and love the meaning
[name]Delilah[/name] - never really liked this, somehow just makes me think of the less than upstanding biblical character?

[name]How[/name] about [name]Oriana[/name] or [name]Orla[/name]? [name]Love[/name] those names, both very pretty. Also like [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Saskia[/name] is lovely too of your choices, I don’t think it’s odd with a plain surname, infact I like it when interesting names ‘lift’ a plainer surname into something more individual/unique

Good luck. I still really like [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Violet[/name], and think [name]Violet[/name] is a lovely middle that will work with most of your other top choices.

I’ve not got much further in our search for baby girl no.3 -just got 3/4 weeks left, really hoping we choose something soon and something which I’m not going to regret too

[name]HI[/name] beccalm! Thanks for your feedback!

I pronounce [name]Saoirse[/name] like seer-sha, but I was worried it was too close of a sound to [name]Georgia[/name], but I think it would work.

I am glad people like the name [name]Rosalie[/name] as I am getting used to it, And my son says it correctly, it it just gets run together and ends up sounding like [name]Rosie[/name]-and I still just don’t enjoy saying it.

I did not know one could pronounce the name [name]Catriona[/name] that way (with a long O) so maybe I can spin it that way and see what he thinks.

I thought [name]Saskia[/name] was no more ethnic then [name]Irina[/name] but he doesn’t agree and/or like it. It would be my#1 alternative.

[name]Callista[/name] is pretty but I’ve always only associated it with Flockhart. the [name]Delilah[/name] history doesn’t bother me and for some reason I think it would be an easier switch than some others but it is a name i just recently thought about so it has not been kicking around in my headlong.

Of the names, I really like [name]Indigo[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name], but I just feel like this past weekend we reached a point of no return, and it’s almost as though my DH knew that, it seems like the name is stuck.

i agree [name]Serafina[/name] is probably too celeb, esp. with [name]Violet[/name].

[name]Oriana[/name] is interesting-feels a bit too much like [name]Arianna[/name] though.

I [name]HOPE[/name] you find a name you like, and thank you for the feedback, I agree- think I am leaning away from [name]Serafina[/name].

I’m surprised no one mentioned this (at least I’m pretty sure) but what about [name]Rosalia[/name] or [name]Rosalina[/name]?
I like [name]Indigo[/name] too but it doesn’t seem to fit
[name]Serafina[/name] is great but it’s another S name
[name]Georgia[/name] is great too and I can see that it sounds similar to [name]Saoirse[/name] (what about [name]Geneva[/name]?)

[name]Callista[/name], [name]Annika[/name], and [name]Twila[/name] are gorgeous, although [name]Twila[/name] does remind me a little bit of Twilight, unfortunately
[name]Delilah[/name], [name]Aria[/name], and [name]Irina[/name] don’t really work, for me
[name]Deirdre[/name] is amazing, I think I like this the most!!!
[name]Augusta[/name] and [name]Olympia[/name] are great names, but nicknames are kind of hard
