I really like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]! I think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is quite clearly masculine, and is an easily recognized name, but not super common.

[name_m]Seamus[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] - I like [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], but [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] sounds to me like “shamelessly”.
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] - Again, I feel like it sounds like one word. “Owenleigh”.
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] - For some reason it doesn’t sound like 1 word! Maybe because [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] ends in -er?
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] - Nice, but [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] sounds close to [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] - maybe I’m over thinking it, but I would avoid!
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] - again, sounds like a word “Romanly”. I do like [name_m]Roman[/name_m], just don’t think it’s perfect.

A couple suggestions:
[name_m]Eric[/name_m]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Asher[/name_m]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] - particularly like this because of the meaning!
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] - Makes me think of starting a new adventure.
[name_m]Jackson[/name_m]

But I really do think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a winner! If you feel you connect well with the name, I’d go for it!

Haha, most of these do sound like words don’t they? I hadn’t considered that.
I really like [name_m]Asher[/name_m]! My birth name is [name_f]Amber[/name_f] so that would be an easy transition for my family, I think. [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] is also really nice. Now that I think of it the -er ending sounds really good with [name_u]Lee[/name_u].
Thanks for your input!

Any time! Congrats on taking this big step

I have a friend named [name_m]Eric[/name_m] who’s birth name was [name_f]Erin[/name_f]. I know he found it helpful that it was only a slight change in the name as his family and old friends had an easier time with the transition! On the other hand, I have another friend who chose a totally different name. They wanted something completely different, didn’t want to be connected to the old name at all. Both are valid points, you just have to pick what’s right for you

It may be little far fetched, but I originally chose [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] because it’s a gemstone, like [name_f]Amber[/name_f] is. I like that subtle homage to my former self. It’s definitely under major consideration

I love [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] for you and also the suggestion of [name_m]Asher[/name_m]!!

I like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is also a great name, but I’m not a fan of it with that middle name. Maybe if you had a second middle between the two.

I was trying to pick between [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] but I just couldn’t decide! Both are so wonderful in their own way. I’d say go with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] if you want something that stands out more and has a vintage flair. [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] would be perfect if you want a traditional name that sounds modern (with the 2-syllable, ends-in-N names still popular) and it really strikes the perfect fits-in-stands-out note.

Good luck with the decision and with your transition!

Thank you! It’s a tough decision. [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] have been axed, so it’s between [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] is probably my favorite, it’s modern-sounding with lots of history. Plus I kinda look like a [name_u]Tristan[/name_u].

Congratulations on your transition! [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] is a wonderful name, but I also do agree that [name_f]Amber[/name_f] -> [name_m]Asher[/name_m] may be an easier connection not only for friends and family but also for you. [name_m]Just[/name_m] speculating here — if someone calls “[name_m]Asher[/name_m]” in a crowd maybe you’d react more readily as it’s closer sounding to your former name?

This is not really the same experience as what you are going through, but I was born with a Chinese name and then later given an English name when I moved to the U.S. My Chinese name and English name sound similar with the same vowels, which definitely made it easier for me to answer to my English name!

That’s true, I’d respond much quicker to [name_m]Asher[/name_m]. But I’m not all that worried about it - I have the rest of my life to get used to this name, after all. It’ll be a shock at first, and I don’t want to make it harder on myself, but I also don’t want to choose a name that doesn’t fit.
Thanks everyone for your input, I really appreciate it.

The gemstone connection you made between [name_f]Amber[/name_f] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is really nice, and I think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a handsome and friendly name. [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is a similar name that also has a nice meaning and feels a bit more current to me than [name_u]Owen[/name_u].

Other names to consider…
[name_m]Archer[/name_m]/[name_m]Asher[/name_m]/[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] (but maybe only because I really like the nn’s [name_m]Art[/name_m] and [name_m]Archie[/name_m])
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Ewan[/name_m]

I voted for [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]. I agree with you, I love that it has ancient history but also a modern sound. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_m]Asher[/name_m] are also both so nice, though! You can’t go wrong. Congratulations on this big step.

I really love the gemstone connection with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]!

First off- congratulations on starting this journey and I wish you the best of luck!

I love [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] for you! Such a handsome name, and I love the gemstone connection as well.

Hello!
I really like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]! All names are great!

My favorite to least favorite with the middle name [name_u]Lee[/name_u]:

  1. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
  2. [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
  3. [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
  4. [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
  5. [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]

[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] sounds great too!
Good luck with your choice, I wish you the best!

I love [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and that you have that similarity between [name_f]Amber[/name_f] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] (being gemstones)!

I also like [name_m]Asher[/name_m]

I like [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] as well, for another suggestion.

Congratulations on this stage in your transition - how exciting!

It seems like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a winner - I too love the gemstone connection. That’s such a nice touch, truly! I do like [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] too, though, and I really loved the suggestion of [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u].

I also love the gemstone connection, and adore the name [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. I wanted to name my child [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] but my husband vetoed it for something more gender neutral (we went with [name_u]Cedar[/name_u]). Let us know what you ultimately decide!!

[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] is my favorite name here and it reads very masculine to me but I know that in terms of usage it is more neutral, so I ultimately didn’t vote for it.

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u] feel like you best bet, and while both work well with [name_u]Lee[/name_u], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] probably sounds the best of the two.
