Hey [name]Lemon[/name],

I voted for [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]. I love that it’s spunky but still a classic. I think it fits really nicely with your other top names too

Here’s another vote for [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]!

Good luck with your list!

[name]Lemon[/name], I voted for [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]–what a beautiful way to honor your twin sister! Plus, [name]Sarah[/name] is a classic name that blends well with [name]Emmeline[/name].

[name]Lemon[/name],
I voted for [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] just because I know that is the one you told me about before, and I really loved it! Also I think it’s sweet to honor family!

Thanks for the votes, everyone! I’m going to let the poll run a bit longer to see if I get more. I suppose I should have said what each name “means” to me, for those who haven’t read my threads before:

[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Julia[/name] - I adore [name]Julia[/name], always have, and my mom and dad have J names, too.

[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name] - This name honors my mother and grandmother, both who have [name]Marie[/name] as their middle names, and my other grandmother, [name]Marion[/name]. Furthermore, the name reminds me of my love for [name]Austen[/name] novels and The Sound of [name]Music[/name], both of which I share with my mom.

[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] - This was the name of my great-grandmother, who passed away several years ago. She ([name]Ruby[/name] [name]Jane[/name]) was the only great-grandparent I ever met.

[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] - This is the name of my twin sister and a distant relative on my mom’s side. It has a sweet meaning and a playful sound that appeal to me, and obviously every time I used the full name, I’d think of my sister.

[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] - I just love [name]Sophia[/name]! I love the meaning, too. I chose this as the middle name for my godparents’ daughter, who has my first name, [name]Lauren[/name] (so she is “[name]Little[/name] [name]Lauren[/name],” or [name]Lauren[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]).

Okay, again, thanks!

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] is perfect, I chose it based on the flow and style of the two names, before knowing the reason for the name [name]Ruby[/name]. Now that I know that, it’s so much better. I think that [name]Hazel[/name] fits very nicely as a first name among your other girls’ names.

[name]Lemon[/name], Now that I have read what each name means to you, I will tell you my favorites, in order:

  1. [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] --love the name, plus I like how you helped choose this name for your godparents’ daughter. It also resembles [name]Sarah[/name]!
  2. [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]–for your sister
  3. [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]–great family name
  4. [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Julia[/name]–love this name! Plus it honors your parents.

I don’t think [name]Hazel[/name] goes well with [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Emmeline[/name]. I find [name]Hazel[/name] to be too stuffy and abrupt-sounding, and it doesn’t have a great flow, like the other names. (Sorry!)

Thanks!

I think you might be on to something with [name]Hazel[/name] not fitting in so well - it is shorter than the other three-syllable names, and it feels much more vintage to me, for some reason. I just like it, and the combination [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name], very much. I already know my dad doesn’t care for [name]Hazel[/name], not that that matters, though…

[name]Lemon[/name] [[name]Lauren[/name]]

I honestly can’t decide between [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name]… [name]Julia[/name] is one of my favorite names, but I’m not sure-- I think I like it better as a first name… but it flows wonderfully with [name]Emmeline[/name]! I love how unexpected [name]Maria[/name] is, especially in the middle, where [name]Marie[/name] is so overused. It’s amazing how one letter could make such a difference!

All of them are nice, though. I don’t think [name]Hazel[/name] or [name]Ruby[/name] have the timeless feel of [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] (even though [name]Ruby[/name] would honor), but I do like the combos. I like [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Sarah[/name], too, and [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] is pretty. I like all of them!

Okay, I think I’ll vote for [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Julia[/name]. But I could have just as easily voted for [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name]!

[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] wins hands down (in my opinion). It flows perfectly and sounds great with your other names! I adore the name [name]Ruby[/name], and if it weren’t for it being my cat’s name (which the adoption facility gave her) it would most certainly be on my list.

Thank you for all of your wonderful comments!

It seems that the favorites are [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Sophia[/name], and [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Hazel[/name], in that order, yes?

I’m surprised to see so many voting for [name]Ruby[/name], honestly, as I thought I heard some comments that weren’t too positive about it when I first brought up the combination a while back. Either way, it is so great to get input from all of you!

I think my favorite names for the middle are [name]Julia[/name], [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Sophia[/name], or [name]Maria[/name], but I’m not totally sold one one yet. Since the majority of Berries love [name]Ruby[/name], I’m feeling pulled to it, too. I just don’t feel that “love” feeling that I have for [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], especially, and [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] when I hear [name]Ruby[/name]. Maybe I just need a push? If anybody wants to sell me one of these names with [name]Emmeline[/name], please feel free to try!

Thanks! Oh, and happy “First [name]Day[/name] of [name]Spring[/name],” my friends!

[name]Lemon[/name]

Oh no! I removed [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] and it deleted all of the other votes - I’m so sorry, everyone!

So, if you’d like to re-vote, please do, though I imagine we’ll still have a large favoritism for [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]. If you’d like to “sell me a name,” I’d appreciate it!

[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Julia[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]

(With [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Henry[/name] [name]Oliver[/name], [name]William[/name] [name]Boyd[/name], and [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]James[/name].)

Thanks, and sorry for deleting the votes!

[name]Lemon[/name]

So I voted for [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Julia[/name] last time, but this time I think I’ll vote for [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name]. As much as I adore the name [name]Julia[/name], I think I prefer [name]Maria[/name] in this case.

To me, there are the four MAIN classic, strong, timeless girl’s names-- [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], and [name]Mary[/name]. You’ve included three of the four with [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Eliza[/name], and I think [name]Maria[/name] would finish off the set and make it all ‘symmetrical’. That probably doesn’t make any sense (I can be a little OCD about these things) but that is my argument for [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name]! Having said that, I really like all the combos (even though I’ve never been crazy about [name]Emmeline[/name]).

Thank you, [name]Iris[/name]!

Your explanation about the main classics makes very much sense, and I appreciate your thoughtful comments even if you aren’t an [name]Emmeline[/name] fan!

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Lauren[/name], guess what? I changed my vote to [name]Maria[/name]! Saying it outloud, it is so classically beautiful, plus I love how it honors 3 people in your family.

Ooh! This is getting exciting! [name]Maria[/name], which had no votes the first go-round, has the majority at the start!

Thanks for the comment, Kyemsma! I’m starting to fall for [name]Maria[/name], too.

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Ah[/name]! I really think I’m falling for [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name]! So strange…

[name]Hi[/name]!

So, I’m pretty sure my issue has been resolved! Over the course of this evening, I’ve decided that [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name] is the way to go - I really love it! So, unless any of you have some reason that this is a bad decision - and I want to hear your reason! - [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name] is going on my list for a future girl!

In fact, I love the name so much that it just bumped [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] out of second place. My top two names for future daughters are now [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name], and I think they compliment each other beautifully!

Now, if I eventually get what I ‘want’ - two girls, two boys, and an agreeable husband! - I’ve got my favorites! Now, I’ll just have to decide on the top two boys’ names. [name]Henry[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] is #1, but #2 is a tie between [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]James[/name] and [name]William[/name] [name]Boyd[/name]. I might just have to start a new poll - you’re probably all sighing about now - about those two, but we’ll see…

Again, thanks for all of your help! You Berries are great!

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]EDIT[/name]: It turns out there was an [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name] ([name]MacArthur[/name]), of New South [name]Wales[/name]! She has a collection of sketches and writings, but I can’t seem to find them…

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Lemon[/name]–[name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name]! And what a great sib-set with [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]! (BTW, [name]Henry[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]James[/name] go great together, too!)
