What would you name a boy that would grow up to be a respectful, handsome, loyal man? What names come to mind? [name_m]How[/name_m] do you picture him?
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] … I don’t know why that is the first name that popped into my head. I think [name_m]Luke[/name_m] also fits the bill for me.
I don’t think the name has to do with it, just the parenting. The most respectful and well behaved little kids I know are [name_m]Casper[/name_m] and [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] (brothers), [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], [name_m]Iain[/name_m], [name_u]Logan[/name_u], and [name_m]Jason[/name_m], so clearly a wide variety
I agree with the pp. If you raise him to be respectful, he will be, no matter whether you name him [name_m]Henry[/name_m] or Hendrixx.
I agree that a name doesn’t make anyone a respectful person, but when I think of a respectful and loyal man, I think of a name like:
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Harry[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
All about the parenting. Name has nothing to do with it.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
Something old and calm.
Respectful, handsome, and loyal:
[name_m]Trey[/name_m]
[name_u]Seth[/name_u]
[name_m]Clayton[/name_m]
[name_m]Alec[/name_m]
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u]
[name_u]Taylor[/name_u]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Landon[/name_m]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u]
[name_u]Evan[/name_u]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_m]Weston[/name_m]
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]
Agreed with everyone else, that a name doesn’t define one’s personality. The most respectful and kind little boys I know are named [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], [name_u]Karter[/name_u], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], and [name_u]Niko[/name_u], so those would be the names I associate with respect.
Obviously it’s more about how he’s raised than what he’s named. I’m sure you know that. But there are certain names that give that vibe more than others. I think it’s names that are classic and well established, that people associate with “simpler times.” (Not that I truly believe people were more respectful in other time periods necessarily, just that certain eras may have that image more than modern day.)
[name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m]
[name_m]Roger[/name_m]
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
[name_u]Darren[/name_u]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m]
I have 2 sons. I expect both to be respectful gentlemen. But I think [name_m]Truman[/name_m]'s name gives off more of a loyal gentleman vibe than [name_u]Lennon[/name_u]'s… it’s right there in the name “true man.” So I get what you’re asking.
[name_u]Noah[/name_u] and [name_m]William[/name_m]
As everyone has already said, it’s about the raising not the naming. I feel like classic names fit that bill, [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]William[/name_m] especially.
I think peoples opinions on this are really going to vary based on their personal experiences with people with different names. I think it will be easier to avoid names that bring negative associations (like [name_m]Adolph[/name_m], Negan, [name_m]Nero[/name_m]) than pick one that everyone thinks is a respectable name. (you won’t find a name that everyone likes, so focus on picking one that YOU and OH like) You could pick a name like [name_m]William[/name_m] and some will think it fits the bill but a few will know a [name_m]William[/name_m] who is some racist/abusive/otherwise nasty person. Having said that, I think more common names are less likely to be viewed negatively by a large number of people because even if it makes them think of a person they don’t like, they are likely to know several other people with that name who are decent people.
[name_m]Roman[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m]
[name_m]Nolan[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
I think classic names really have a respectful sound to them!
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
When I picture these, I see a well dressed man haha
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Benedict[/name_m]
[name_m]Cecil[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Leonidas[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
Some definitions of [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] or [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] I am viewing (outside of Nameberry) list the meaning as “respected” or “venerable” – plus it sounds respectable to me!
I think of [name_m]George[/name_m], probably because of the royal family.
