I feel like I’ve waited ages for this to be released, and I was so excited when I found it this afternoon!
The top 10’s don’t surprise, I hear all of those names all the time, particularly, [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_u]Alfie[/name_u], [name_u]Riley[/name_u], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m]! I know so many children with these names.
My favourites haven’t moved too much but they have risen up the charts, including [name_m]Asher[/name_m] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] too. There were only around 80 [name_m]Asher[/name_m]'s born in 2011 and now 160 odd for 2012 so I’m praying that doesn’t shoot up too much. I was kind of surprised too [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] enter the top 100 as I’ve not heard of or met any [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]'s just [name_u]Theo[/name_u]'s which has broke the top 50.
You can definitely see a lot of the popular 90’s and early 2000 names dropping quickly, the likes of [name_m]Luke[/name_m], [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] etc.
What always intrigues me is the full list where you see that people actually name their children [name_f]Princess[/name_f], [name_u]Baby[/name_u], [name_m]Tiger[/name_m] and other crazy things.
[name_f]One[/name_f] name that I picked up a lot on was [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] and it’s various different spellings, it would easily make the top 20 or so if all spellings were added together.
My daughter’s name - [name_f]Emily[/name_f] - is still quite popular in [name_f]England[/name_f]! I was surprised that [name_f]Emma[/name_f] was not in the top 10.
