The boys list is quite similar to my own top 10 with [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_m]Forrest[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] making it on there. Personally, I’m surprised [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] made it to the top 10! I definitely thought he would be one of the first names to go.

Only one of these names ([name_f]Florence[/name_f]) is currently in my own top 10! I’m surprised [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] got top spot, It really was neck and neck between [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. I’m also surprised that [name_u]Willow[/name_u] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f] didn’t make it into the top 10.

Literal 1am ramblings

I find the nature of these Nameberry chosen top 10s so interesting, because they do very well at showing what is widely appealing, but they often miss what is appreciated more deeply. For example, many people might consider [name_u]August[/name_u] to be a nice name, but a smaller group of people may think [name_m]Percival[/name_m] is a “wow” name. Because it works on quantity alone, [name_u]August[/name_u] goes through and [name_m]Percival[/name_m] wanes.

As a result, a lot of the final top 10s I’ve seen have the same names in, and by nature these are often more pedestrian choices as they are the ones that appeal to the largest group of people. And while I do like a lot of the names on your final list, I think there are so many more on your original list that I find more interesting, like [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] and [name_f]Giselle[/name_f].

I want to be clear that this is not meant to be negative, it’s just an observation of this type of polling, and if anything my point is that you should take the results with a pinch of salt. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because a name on your list didn’t “win” or get many votes, it isn’t less worthy of your top 10 or even necessarily less loved. Back to the point!

I think you have a great, varied starting list. With the boys I love to see [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] and [name_m]Isadore[/name_m], and [name_m]Zed[/name_m] is really cool. With the girls I see a lot in common with my own list such as [name_f]Cassia[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Martha[/name_f], and I really like the more whimsical [name_f]Valley[/name_f] and [name_f]Wisteria[/name_f].

I must admit I’m not massively surprised by the top 10s (see above) but I do really like them. The girls all feel sweet, romantic and kind of cottagey, and the boys are distinguished yet soft.

I 100% agree. The names in the nameberry top 10 don’t really showcase users individual naming style and taste. They rather show names which majority of the nameberry community can agree on being adequate.
