Also, which names would you remove from this list and which ones would you 100% keep aside from the ultimate faves?

First of all, I love your list!
Here are some names that aren’t standing out to me as much.

[name_f]Elara[/name_f]- I little bit more princessy than your other names…She doesn’t have as much backbone.
[name_f]Liv[/name_f]- I like this, but I think with both [name_f]Livia[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] already on your list, it feels a bit un-necessary to have it as a standalone first. It’s shorter compared to your other names, and if you already have [name_f]Livia[/name_f], I would scratch this one off.
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]- You list is full of really unique, quirky names, and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is just way too popular in comparison. She feels expected and doesn’t shine next to the others.
[name_f]Lune[/name_f]- I kind of like the vibe of [name_f]Lune[/name_f], but it’s a little wordy so it doesn’t feel like a solid name to me. I also just think of [name_f]Luna[/name_f] but without the A. I think [name_f]Luna[/name_f] would actually fit a bit better!
[name_f]Malina[/name_f]- I think [name_f]Malina[/name_f] feels more moody and dramatic then your other girls who are more spunky and bright. A nice name, but I can’t quite get get past the similarity to malita or malilla in Spanish, which means bad…
[name_f]Cerelia[/name_f]- The only reason I would eliminate this is because I prefer [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Celia[/name_f], and so this on is just a bit to similar.

Names I love (and think should be kept):
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]- - Spunky, cheerful, and smiley! I love seeing [name_f]Ines[/name_f]! :sun_with_face: :icecream:

[name_f]Irina[/name_f]- [name_f]Ballerina[/name_f] name! Dainty yet strong, eyecatching…This feels like the name of the girl in your profile pic. :ballet_shoes: :ribbon:
[name_f]Melodia[/name_f]- [name_f]Lyrical[/name_f] and super pretty, this fits with your style so well. :notes: :hibiscus:
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]- Obviously I love her…I love her strength, boldness, bookishness, and how she’s full of personality. :sunflower: :violin:
[name_f]Ronia[/name_f]- This is so intriguing, she’s new to me. It reminds me of the names [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] and [name_f]Bronagh[/name_f], so I’m picturing a golden selkie, wild ocean, moonshine aesthetic. Really pretty! :seal: :ocean:
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]- I love the imagery of [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], so golden, warm, comforting, and sweet. She gives me prairie vibes. Barefeet, running wild through tall grass, freedom, and birdsong. :ear_of_rice: :corn:
[name_f]Talvi[/name_f]- What a bold, colourful name. She really catches your attention and makes an impression. :carousel_horse: :tangerine:

Names I would recommend
[name_f]Tuuli[/name_f]- Another ballet name, I like how she is pink and frilly but also has those stronger sounds in there to give her a bit of edge. Cool meaning too.
[name_f]Selene[/name_f]- [name_m]Calm[/name_m], peaceful, moonlit…I think the imagery here is lovely and matches your vibe.
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]- Again, I like the harsher consonants in this name even though she is very elegant and graceful! I think it gives pretty, but strong
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]- I like how the icey, wintery sounds match with some other wintery names on your list (Talvi, [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Odetta[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] ) while the nature meaning matches with your more floral names.

A few that spring to mind that feel like they fit the :sparkles:vibe :sparkles:: [name_f]Sofia[/name_f], [name_f]Adela[/name_f], [name_f]Lara[/name_f], [name_f]Cassia[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Salome[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f], Delphine/Delphi and [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]. A few I’d gently bump off:
[name_u]Julie[/name_u]: not a bad name, she just feels a bit flat and middle-aged next to your other lovely picks! I like [name_f]Julia[/name_f] a lot more, but still not as much as the rest of your names.
[name_f]Amanda[/name_f]: basically ditto!
[name_u]June[/name_u]: I just don’t see her as being ready for revival yet (also I don’t like the month of [name_u]June[/name_u] it makes me hot and sticky :joy:)
[name_f]Diana[/name_f] - connected far too strongly in my head to poor [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Di[/name_f]
[name_f]Malina[/name_f] - reminds me strongly of the word ‘malign’!
[name_f]Odetta[/name_f] - nice, but I prefer just plain [name_f]Odette[/name_f] :swan:
[name_u]Love[/name_u] a lot of these, favourites are [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Elara[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Livia[/name_f], [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] :blush:

I wouldn’t remove Kreeta! It is a very beautiful name for you that reflects your heritage and it felt so you :'))

I would remove [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Meadow[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] / [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Viveka[/name_f] to [name_f]Viveca[/name_f] for you.

Between [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and Cerelia… I would do [name_f]Cerelia[/name_f] with [name_f]Celia[/name_f] as a nickname so you get the best of the two worlds.

Some suggestions:

@OctaviaMay

Firstly, thank you for helping me! Your thoughts and especially the explanations helped me a lot (I’m reconsidering Olivia and Liv because of you!). I like all your suggestions too but Selene especially stands out to me.

@Mary_Rose

Thank you so much for helping! Your explanations for the names you’d remove helped especially.

Also, as a non-native English speaker, I’ve probably never heard the word "malign” before so I can’t connect it to Malina :joy:

From your suggestions, I love Adela and like Lara, Cassia, Phoebe and Delphine. I also like Sofia but that name is everywhere (I hear it more than Olivia actually) and Magdalene but that feels a bit too religious to me.

@bellerose

Thank you for helping me! I like Anastasia, Ophelia and Thora especially from your suggestions!

@Greyblue

Thank you for helping! Your suggestions were great, for my list, I’ll take Miranda, Kerttu (I love that it’s only one letter away from ”kettu” which means fox in Finnish :fox_face::face_holding_back_tears:), Liora, Idalia, Twila, Sapphira, Viviana and Eira into consideration!

If it’s not too much to ask, could you tell me why would you choose to keep these! No need to tell me all but if you have some specific reasons, I’d love to hear them!

@heartwings

I agree, it’s beautiful and the sentiment behind it is also very beautiful ( my mom wanted to name me Kreeta but couldn’t ) but I’m not sure if it really felt like me. I might still reconsider it though, especially as a middle name because I probably wouldn’t use it as a first.

This feels like a quite obvious solution that I didn’t think about :joy:

From your suggestions, Irina is already on my list and I could see Elsi, Nora, Adele, Margot, Helene, Thea, Ottilie, Elina, Leonie, Helmi, Anni, Frida, Celine and Essi on my list!
Thank you for all your thoughts!

@shanade213

Thank you for the help! I quite like Eulalia, Zosia, Astrea, Flavia, Hestia, Inga, Fjola, Nell, and also Annika (even though that’s unusable for me!)

[name_f]Celia[/name_f] → light, bright and sparkly with a lovely meaning
[name_f]Cerelia[/name_f] → magical, nature-y, gives me the feel of [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Elara[/name_f] → starry, sweet and wintery somehow
[name_f]Irina[/name_f] → sharp and sleek, with an international vibe
[name_f]Katri[/name_f] → this always gives me a snowy/wintery vibe, zippy and snappy, and feels both distinctive and approachable
[name_f]Malina[/name_f] → cute meaning and sparkly feel
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] → bright and airy but classic too, which I think fits your list
[name_f]Talvi[/name_f] → gorgeous sound and meaning and one I associate with you
[name_f]Viola[/name_f] → I like this best of the Viol- names. Literary and sleek
[name_u]Winter[/name_u] → love the imagery, and the sound

@OctaviaMay

I think the photo does fit Irina’s vibes but the girl’s actual name is [name_f]Roseanne[/name_f] (stage name: Rosé), she’s a member of the kpop group Blackpink!

This probably wasn’t even that relevant to the topic but I got an opportunity to talk about Rosé so I used it lol

Summary

Cool, thanks for letting me know! That’s a beautiful name!

Such a pretty list! :heart_eyes:

I would remove:

[name_f]Aamu[/name_f] - love the meaning, but also sounds very close to the sound cows make in Estonian. It doesn’t really matter at all, but that’s why I would remove it :smile:
[name_f]Amanda[/name_f] - feels a bit dated (but with Finnish accent, so cute!)
[name_u]Julie[/name_u] - feels a bit dated, I prefer Juliette/ [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] - I think of the ceiling
[name_f]Cerelia[/name_f] - I immediately think of cereals :bowl_with_spoon:

I would 100% keep:

[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
[name_f]Melodia[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Odetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Serafina[/name_f]
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]

I would add:

[name_f]Violetta[/name_f], my recent name crush. I just think it looks more complete with a double T
Caspia
Fleurina/ Fleuriel
[name_f]Medora[/name_f]
[name_f]Melusine[/name_f]
[name_f]Melrose[/name_f]

What a sophisticated, sparkly list of name gems! :slightly_smiling_face: Here are my two cents:

The names you should definitely keep…
Aamu - She boasts a gorgeous meaning coupled with a very sweet sound, and reminds me of the peachy color of a sunrise! She is elegant yet adorable, and I can see her on a child or an adult easily! Such whimsy, I love her so much! :sunrise:

Alice - She is sky blue with cotton clouds, and I adore her understated whimsicality! The Alice in Wonderland association, along with the meaning of “noble,” really make this name for me! :cloud:

Cerelia - I am entirely biased as Cerelia is on my own list, but from what I know of you, she seems to be more of a “you” name than Cecelia/Cecilia or Celia. She is very rosy pink and glistening with dewdrops, and has a delicate sort of strength about her! :ballet_shoes: If I had to rank them from my favorite to least favorite for you, it would be Cerelia, Celia, and finally Cecelia/Cecilia! :slightly_smiling_face: Cerelia feels like a relatively unknown classic to me, and would pair splendidly with your other ancient, classic, goddess names, such as Aurora, Diana, and Irina! As a side note, “Celia” could always be a nickname for Cerelia, as it is on my list. :slightly_smiling_face: Then you get to keep them both!

Diana - Another ancient classic, and one of the most gorgeous names to ever exist! She is such a pretty amethyst purple to me, and is timelessly beautiful. I would never let her leave your list! :crystal_ball:

Faye - Simple and saccharine, in the best way possible, and very airy and pastel. She is ethereal and yet vintage chic all at once, making her another timeless name, usable in any era. And who would not want to be named after the Fae? :butterfly:

Irina - I just love the way in which her sound flows like a babbling brook, as well as her being derived from Eirene, which is a nod to a goddess just like Aurora, Cerelia and Diana! She is very ballerina-esque, but earthy as well, and reminds me of emerald green. :green_heart:

Katri - She has such a crisp sound and is so wintry. She is an icy blue, and is such a fun name to say aloud. :snowflake:

Livia - Another underused and ancient classic, which I believe you mentioned was personal to you. I would never let this name leave your list either if I were you, due to that reason alone. She reminds me of candlelight, and is a pale yellowish cream color. :candle: I much prefer her to Olivia, perhaps attributed to her more spritely sound! The O in Olivia makes it a bit weightier, in my humble opinion. :slightly_smiling_face:

Malina - What a downright precious meaning, with such a melodic sound to boot! She is a pretty magenta color, and is easy to say and spell, which is always a bonus. :heart:

Melodia - I am running out of adjectives and compliments for all of these breathtaking choices, so just know that this is one of my favorites for you! She is peach pink, and would be the perfect sister for many a name on your list, but especially Daphne! :cherry_blossom:

Also, Viveka has this punchiness to it with that fun K that Viveca just cannot hold a candle to. As for your Vio- quandary, I would choose Viola, especially for her Shakespearean cred! :slightly_smiling_face:

I apologize for only commenting on which names I think you should keep, but I have a hard time recommending or advocating for removing names from your list, as I do not quite have a firm grasp on your style as of yet. Regardless, I hope my comments were somewhat helpful! :slightly_smiling_face: Have a wonderful day!

[name_f]My[/name_f] absolute favorites from this list are [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Irina[/name_f] (love to see her on here!), [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and [name_f]Violeta[/name_f]! I’m also really liking [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Fleur[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_u]Louise[/name_u], [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], and [name_u]Winter[/name_u].

The names I would remove are [name_f]Amanda[/name_f], [name_f]Liv[/name_f], [name_f]Melodia[/name_f], [name_f]Sonia[/name_f], and [name_f]Talvi[/name_f]. I personally would keep Cecilia/Cecelia over [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cerelia[/name_f]. I think you could use [name_f]Celia[/name_f] as a nickname for either of those!

Names that come to mind based on your list:
[name_f]Katarina[/name_f]
[name_f]Karina[/name_f]
[name_f]Catrin[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Swanhilde[/name_f] (a wildcard, but I think she’s gorgeous!)
[name_f]Elisaveta[/name_f]
[name_u]Mina[/name_u]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
Marinela / [name_f]Marianela[/name_f] (also a wildcard!)
[name_f]Eloisa[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps! :ribbon:

I’d remove…

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] - such a beautiful literary name but in a Finnish speaking context sounds too close to “älis”/“älistä” to me
[name_f]Amanda[/name_f] - just a little dull? It almost has fun princessy vibes but at the same time feels too common to be all that exciting
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] - because I prefer [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]! (but of course you can keep both on your list)
Cecilia/Cecelia and [name_f]Cerelia[/name_f] - because I prefer [name_f]Celia[/name_f]!
[name_f]Fleur[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Flora[/name_f]!
[name_f]Katri[/name_f] - sounds a little dated to me (probably because it’s my middle aged aunt’s name! And kinda makes me think of the singer [name_f]Katri[/name_f] Helena)
[name_f]Malina[/name_f] - I don’t really know why, this one just doesn’t do much for me
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] - it’s so ubiquitous and internationally popular that it’s become quite boring to me, although it does sound lovely
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] - I know so many Susannas (most of them around my age or a bit older) that it doesn’t feel all that special anymore

Would 100% keep…
[name_f]Aamu[/name_f] - okay so, this kind of makes me think of [name_f]Aamu[/name_f] from Salatut Elämät because I am an aging millenial but it’s not enough to detract from the fact that it’s a lovely word name
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] - sounds sophisticated and elegant
[name_f]Diana[/name_f] - I think the Finnish pronuciation is so pretty and delicate
[name_f]Lisette[/name_f] - makes me think of an adventurous, strong-willed little girl
[name_f]Livia[/name_f] - It’s like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] but more fun!
[name_f]Melodia[/name_f] - I love this for you given your passion for music. The same goes for [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], actually.
[name_f]Odetta[/name_f] - a very pink name, makes me think of ballerinas, and seems to suit your style so well
[name_f]Serafina[/name_f] - I love its connection to His [name_u]Dark[/name_u] Materials (what a “torille” moment that name is, although it’s funny that [name_f]Kaisa[/name_f] is her male daemon :sweat_smile:)
[name_f]Talvi[/name_f] - such an underappreciated gem
[name_f]Viveka[/name_f] - I mean, I’d name my own daughter this in a heartbeat!

And I’d add…
[name_f]Lovisa[/name_f] / Loviisa
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ilta[/name_f]
Adalmina / Adalmiina
[name_f]Adelma[/name_f]
[name_f]Carlotta[/name_f] / [name_f]Sharlotta[/name_f] / [name_f]Lotta[/name_f]
[name_f]Ilona[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] / [name_f]Sofie[/name_f] (I especially like the streamlined Sofie!)
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Alina[/name_f]
[name_f]Evita[/name_f]
[name_f]Minttu[/name_f]
[name_f]Klaudia[/name_f]

@Parfait_de_Roses

Thank you so much for helping me out!

I kinda see your concern about [name_f]Aamu[/name_f] (it reminds me of the Finnish cow sound a little bit)

I definitely prefer the Finnish pronounciation of [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] too and I feel like it doesn’t feel that dated with that pronounciation!

About your suggestions - I love [name_f]Violetta[/name_f] (although I prefer Violeta), Fleurina, Fleuriel and would think about adding those to my list and I like the others too even though I can’t see those being on my list.

@mellona

Thank you for your thoughts - the explanations were especially helpful! I totally understand not having a firm grasp on my style yet (it takes me a lot of time to grasp someone’s style) but you still helped me out a lot and I’m so grateful for that! Also thanks for all your suggestions and your comments on our private message thread :heartpulse:

@readingreverie

Thank you for helping me out Mollie!! Your thoughts helped me out a lot and I loved your suggestions, especially [name_f]Katarina[/name_f], [name_f]Karina[/name_f], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f], Marianela/Marinela, [name_f]Odette[/name_f] and [name_f]Swanhilde[/name_f]! I liked the others too but these ones stood out to me the most.

@Luminen

Thank you so much for helping me out, so nice to have another Finnish perspective!!

I’m commenting on a lot of things right now:

You made me (re)consider a lot of things! I do see Alice’s similarity to ”älis/älistä” which kinda made me reconsider. I also understand that Olivia’s popularity puts you off (the rankings put me off too but I don’t know anyone named [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] irl).
[name_f]Katri[/name_f] doesn’t feel dated to me but I know a 13 year old with that name so it’s probably because of that. [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] feels a bit dated but I’m fine with it.

Aww that’s such a cute way to think about it!

I kinda forgot what His [name_u]Dark[/name_u] Materials is but that name is such a ”torille” moment, and thanks for giving your thoughts on which names I should keep!

Also I loved your suggestions, especially [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] (it’s basically one of my favourites already but I forgot to add it on my official list) and also [name_f]Ilta[/name_f], Loviisa, [name_f]Selina[/name_f] and [name_f]Sofie[/name_f]! [name_f]My[/name_f] own real name was also on your suggestion list which is such a fun coincidence!

i love your list!! i would remove…

amanda- feels a little dated next to your other names :face_with_diagonal_mouth:
lisette- for some reason this reminds me of the brand gillette :sob: also it feels a little more vintage and less magical than the other names
louisa- same as above- although i might be biased because this is a name i don’t love… :sob:
malina- reminds me of malaria :sob::sob:
viola- has different vibes than the rest of your names for me

of those three, i think cerelia fits your style the best!

my favorites are alice, linnea, talvi, and viveca with that spelling!

i think most of these have already been said but i would add phoebe, greta, primrose, juliette, anastasia, and sofia!
